Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Blue Jays' Gabriel Moreno: Joining big club this weekend
Moreno is joining the Blue Jays for the upcoming three-game series at Detroit which begins Friday, and he's expected to be officially added to the active roster at some point this weekend, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
The 22-year-old is poised to receive his first taste of the big leagues this weekend after Danny Jansen landed on the injured list Tuesday with a fractured bone in his left hand. Fellow catchers Alejandro Kirk and Zack Collins are already on the MLB roster, but Moreno, who is one of the top prospects in baseball, will be called up and should receive regular opportunities behind the plate. Moreno has only one home run through 35 games with Triple-A Buffalo this season, but he still has a strong .323/.377/.406 slash line.

Zack Collins was called up from Triple-A Buffalo to provide depth behind Alejandro Kirk at catcher while Jansen is on the shelf. According to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca, Jansen is dealing with a "small, stable fracture" of the hamate bone near his left pinkie finger, and the Jays are preparing for him to miss at least two weeks. The homer, a fourth-inning blast off Kirk McCarty, was Heim's seventh of the season, while the steal was his second. The 26-year-old backstop has seized the starting job for Texas this season with a .260/.324/.480 slash line through 39 games.

Alejandro Kirk C | TOR
Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Four hits in win
Kirk went 4-for-5 with a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Royals.
Kirk singled and scored on a Matt Chapman double in the top of the second inning before later adding three more base knocks in the contest. He now has a five-game hit streak, going 10-for-19 with two home runs, three RBI and six runs over that stretch. Since May 23, Kirk has notched at least one hit in 11 out of 12 games, raising his season-long batting average from .260 to .322. He'll likely see an increase in time at catcher with Danny Jansen (hand) being placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, but Kirk has carved out a consistent role as the Blue Jays' top option at designated hitter regardless.
