Twins' Gary Sanchez: Hits 12th home run

Sanchez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 9-0 win over the Giants on Friday.

Sanchez joined in on the Twins' offensive onslaught off beleaguered Giants starter Alex Wood with a two-run homer of his own. It was Sanchez's 12th long ball of the season and he picked up his 44th RBI with the hit. Sanchez is slashing .216/.282/.394 over 315 at-bats in his first season in Minnesota.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

    Yankees' Jose Trevino: X-rays negative

Trevino underwent X-rays on his foot Friday that came back negative, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Trevino was replaced defensively in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday after being hit by a pitch in the top of the eighth, but he isn't believed to be dealing with any structural damage in his right foot. He should be considered day-to-day for now, while Kyle Higashioka will likely see additional looks behind the plate if Trevino is forced to miss time.

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Exits Friday's game

Trevino exited Friday's game against the Athletics in the bottom of the ninth inning due to an apparent foot injury, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.

Trevino was hit by a pitch on his foot in the top of the eighth inning and initially remained in the game, but he was replaced behind the dish in the bottom of the ninth. Prior to his departure, he went 1-for-3. It's not yet clear whether he'll be forced to miss additional time.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: Remains on bench

Stassi will sit for the second straight game Friday against the Blue Jays, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Stassi is stuck in a 1-for-35 slump over his last nine games. Kurt Suzuki started behind the plate Thursday, but it's Matt Thaiss who will get the nod this time around.

  • Blue Jays' Gabriel Moreno: Raking at Triple-A

Moreno is batting .484 (15-for-31) with four doubles, six RBI and seven runs over seven games for Triple-A Buffalo since returning to the lineup from a thumb injury.

The 22-year-old hasn't homered, but he's otherwise been making a mockery of International League pitching since shaking off a sore right thumb. Moreno held his own in his first crack at the majors earlier this season, but with Danny Jansen and Alejandro Kirk both healthy at the big-league level, the Blue Jays' top catching prospect will have to wait a little longer before he gets another opportunity. It wouldn't be a surprise if Moreno is one of the team's September call-ups, however.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Homers in road win

Jansen went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and a second run scored in Thursday's victory over the Red Sox.

The catcher gave Toronto a 5-4 lead with his sixth-inning home run off Matt Strahm. Prior to this contest, Jansen had been in a major slump over his last 17 games, slashing .102/.175/.102 in 49 at-bats. The 27-year-old has been significantly more effective on the road with a .922 OPS in 69 plate appearances compared to a .573 OPS over 75 PAs in Toronto.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Shines against Yankees

Langeliers went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in a loss to the Yankees on Thursday.

Oakland trailed by 10 runs through five innings before Langeliers provided a murmur of protest with his solo shot to left field in the sixth. The catcher knocked in another run with an infield single in the seventh, and he finished with the second three-hit performance of his young career. Though Sean Murphy remains the Athletics' primary catcher, Langeliers has made enough of a positive impression that he's frequently been used in the DH slot. The 24-year-old is slashing .294/.306/.647 with two homers, four doubles and seven RBI across his first nine major-league contests.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Rehab stint on tap

Grandal (knee) will report to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday to begin a rehab assignment, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The 33-year-old landed on the injured list last Sunday with a left knee strain, but he was cleared of any structural damage and was quickly able to resume baseball activities. Grandal could be reinstated from the injured list when first eligible next week.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Takes seat Thursday

Kirk is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox.

Kirk started the past eight games and will head to the bench after posting a .333/.400/.433 slash line with three doubles and seven RBI during that span. Danny Jansen will take over behind the plate in the series finale at Boston.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Takes seat Thursday

Maldonado isn't starting Thursday against the Twins.

Maldonado started the last three games and went 1-for-11 with a double, a run and six strikeouts. He'll get a breather while Christian Vazquez starts behind the plate and bats fifth.
