  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Launches game-winning homer

Perez went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Yankees.

Perez is just 2-for-12 since returning from thumb surgery Friday, but he's made his two hits count -- both have been three-run blasts. His long ball Sunday was crushed, a 112.2 mph, 441-foot rocket to center field in the ninth inning to secure the victory. The catcher is slashing .209/.249/.438 with 13 long balls, 41 RBI, 27 runs scored and 13 doubles in 60 contests this year.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Twins' Gary Sanchez: Getting Sunday off

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Sanchez will be receiving some much-needed maintenance after he started behind the plate in each of the Twins' last nine games, a streak that dates back to before the All-Star break. Caleb Hamilton will get a rare turn behind the dish Sunday while Sanchez rests.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Sitting Sunday

Maldonado is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Maldonado will get a breather after he went 2-for-10 with a double and a run scored while starting in each of Houston's last three games. Korey Lee will fill in for Maldonado behind the plate.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Resting Sunday

Grandal is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Grandal went 4-for-16 with two RBI while starting each of the White Sox's past four games as either a designated hitter or catcher. Jose Abreu will handle DH duties in the series finale with Oakland, while Seby Zavala gets the nod behind the plate.

  • Rene Pinto C | PHI

Rays' Rene Pinto: Stealing work from Bethancourt

Pinto will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Guardians.

After going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Saturday's 6-4 win, Pinto will be rewarded with his third start in the last four contests. He may have overtaken Christian Bethancourt as the Rays' top catcher while Francisco Mejia (shoulder) is on the shelf, but even if that's the case, Pinto's fantasy upside is minimal. In 64 plate appearances with the big club this season, Pinto is slashing .210/.234/.323 with two home runs and nine RBI.

  • Rays' Christian Bethancourt: Losing time to Pinto

Bethancourt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Bethancourt will sit for the third time in four games and may have slipped behind Rene Pinto on the depth chart at catcher. Since being acquired from the Athletics on July 9 to add depth behind the dish, Bethancourt has batted .160 with one extra-base hit in his first eight games with Tampa Bay.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Athletics' Sean Murphy: Slugs 12th homer

Murphy went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the White Sox on Saturday.

Murphy took Johnny Cueto deep in the first inning with a 425-foot shot to left field that gave the Athletics an early lead. The long ball was Murphy's third in the last eight games, a stretch of 33 plate appearances during which the slugging backstop has forged an outstanding 1.061 OPS with the help of an 18.2 percent walk rate.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

    Yankees' Jose Trevino: Idle Sunday

Trevino is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Trevino looks to be getting a routine rest for the day game after he caught all nine innings of Saturday's 8-2 win while going 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Kyle Higashioka will check in behind the dish for the series finale.

  • Tigers' Tucker Barnhart: Starting series finale

Barnhart is starting at catcher and batting eighth in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Barnhart will pick up the start with Eric Haase getting a breather in the series finale. Haase has overtaken Barnhart as the team's primary catcher, largely due to his superior offensive performance. Haase has a .729 OPS and eight home runs across 64 games, while Barnhart has just a .496 OPS and no home runs across 63 games.

  • Eric Haase C | SF

Tigers' Eric Haase: Sits in series finale

Haase is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Haase is on the bench for the second time in the series, but he still appears to have supplanted Tucker Barnhart -- who starts behind the plate Sunday -- as Option 1A at catcher for the Tigers. Though Barnhart is regarded as the superior game caller and pitch framer, Haase has sported the far more potent bat this season. Haase (.729) owns a 233-point edge in OPS over Barnhart (.496).
