Adley Rutschman C | BAL
Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Gets rare day off
Rutschman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
Rutschman often serves as a designated hitter on days that he doesn't catch, but he'll get a proper day off Wednesday in what marks just his third absence from the lineup since the All-Star break. With James McCann stepping in behind the dish, Ryan Mountcastle will get a look as the Orioles' designated hitter. The day off comes while Rutschman has been running hot at the plate, as he's recorded at least one hit in eight of his last nine starts while slashing .333/.366/.359.

White Sox's Korey Lee: Resting Wednesday
Lee is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
Lee will sit for Wednesday's matinee contest after he started behind the dish in both of the first two games of the series, going 0-for-6 with a walk. Yasmani Grandal will form a battery with starting pitcher Dylan Cease on Wednesday.

Bo Naylor C | CLE
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Homers in second straight game
Naylor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Twins.
Naylor homered for the second game in a row and the third time in five contests. While he hit just .088 over his first 13 games in August, the rookie catcher has found a groove, going 9-for-24 (.375) over his last eight contests. For the season, he's up to a .213/.293/.418 slash line with seven homers, 19 RBI, 18 runs scored and a stolen base through 157 plate appearances.

Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Smacks two-run homer
Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Mariners.
Langeliers' second-inning blast provided the Athletics' margin of victory. The catcher has five homers over his last eight games, finding a new level for power in the latter half of the month. Overall, he's posted a middling .208/.273/.392 slash line with 16 long balls, 47 RBI, 42 runs scored and three stolen bases over 111 contests this season.

Martin Maldonado C | SD
Astros' Martin Maldonado: Receives Tuesday off
Maldonado is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.
Maldonado started behind the last two games and will head to the bench Tuesday after going 3-for-10 with a solo home run and four strikeouts. Yainer Diaz will catch for rookie righty J.P. France.

Jonah Heim C | ATH
Rangers' Jonah Heim: Takes seat Tuesday
Heim is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.
Heim started the previous two games and will receive a day off after going 3-for-9 with a grand slam and a walk. Austin Hedges will step in behind the plate to catch for Andrew Heaney.

Jake Rogers C | DET
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Available despite hand issue
Rogers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees due to left hand inflammation, though he's expected to be available off the bench, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
It's the second straight absence for Rogers, who suffered the injury last week when his hand was struck on a player where he found guilty of catcher's interference. It doesn't appear to be a serious concern, and the 28-year-old could rejoin the starting nine within the next couple of days. Carson Kelly is receiving his second straight start behind the plate Tuesday for Detroit.

Christian Bethancourt C | CHC
Rays' Christian Bethancourt: Out of Tuesday's lineup
Bethancourt is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins.
Bethancourt and Rene Pinto have alternated starts behind the plate over the past eight games, and that trend will continue Tuesday after Bethancourt went 2-for-4 with a run during Sunday's series finale against the Yankees.

Jake Rogers C | DET
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Absent from lineup again
Rogers is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.
Rogers has now sat out two straight and three of the last four in favor of newcomer Carson Kelly. While Rogers is probably still viewed by the Tigers as the starting catcher, it makes sense for the team to be giving Kelly a longer look before they decide whether to pick up his option for 2024.
