Perez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's matchup against Oakland.

Chris Gimenez will start behind the plate and bat ninth for Tuesday's contest. For the season, Perez is hitting a bleak .096/.244/.137 and owns a 21 percent strikeout rate.

Sanchez homered twice and drove in three runs in 3-for-4 game in Monday's loss to Seattle.

Sanchez's white hot start to his career continues, as he now has eight home runs, 15 RBI and an absurd .384/.429/.831 batting line in his first 70 plate appearances. Even if Sanchez reverts to something like his numbers at Triple-A -- .282/.339/.468 with 10 home runs in 71 games -- he'll be among the better offensive options at catcher, so there shouldn't be anything stopping you from hopping on the Sanchez bandwagon at this point.

McCann's home run Saturday was his 10th of the season.

Just 15 catchers have hit double-digit home runs, but McCann's slash line of .211/.264/.356 makes him a one category wonder for fantasy purposes.

Gomes (shoulder) played catch at 100 feet and increased his hitting volume in the batting cage Monday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

This is a big step in the right direction for the Brazilian, as he is on track to return in early September. Gomes was struggling before suffering the separated AC joint with a .165 batting average in 262 plate appearances.

Gomes (shoulder) will travel with the Indians on their upcoming road trip, but his return date is still unclear, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Gomes' most optimistic return date was initially set for the first part of September, but he may be slipping a bit beyond that, as he's only recently begun to participate in light baseball activities.

Perez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins, according to Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio.

Perez showed signs of life with the bat the last few days after struggling for much of August, but manager Ned Yost still decided to hold him out Sunday for the second time in five games. Drew Butera will get the start behind the plate in Perez's place.

Sanchez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's win over the Angels.

Moved up to third in the order, Sanchez went deep in the first inning and gave the Yankees a lead they wouldn't relinquish. The young catcher now has five home runs in the last six games and is hitting 12-for-22 (.545) in that span. The 23-year-old figures to continue playing on a near-every day basis for the remainder of the season and could continue being one of the better hitting catcher options going forward.

Vazquez may not return to Boston when rosters expand next month, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.

Vazquez, who is in his first season following Tommy John elbow surgery, has held up well in 2016, though his bat cost him a regular gig with Boston. For Triple-A Pawtucket, he's been making more consistent at the plate, hitting .265 with a .722 OPS in 33 games. If he could hit like that while maintaining his elite defensive abilities in the majors, he'd be Boston's everyday catcher.

Leon went 1-for-3 with a homer and a walk in Boston's 4-3 loss to Detroit on Thursday.

Leon's improbable season continues unabated. The catcher, who entered the season with a career .187 batting average and one homer in 209 at-bats and was seemingly buried at Triple-A Pawtucket, is hitting .382 with a career-high seven homers and 24 RBI in 136 at-bats. He's been a fantasy find and probably has made a difference in the fortunes of some fantasy owners, but we're all waiting for a market correction in the Leon bubble.

Leon went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's rain-shortened game against the Orioles.

Leon's fifth-inning blast was his sixth of the year, and the catcher's fifth since the All-Star break. He's scored 15 runs since the Midsummer Classic, good for second best among all catchers (one behind Russell Martin), and has notched 14 RBI during that time, which is second-most among AL backstops. Leon has emerged as one of the better catchers to own heading toward the fantasy playoff season.
