Gomes is not in the lineup against the White Sox on Thursday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Gomes will head to the bench for a regular day off after two straight starts behind the plate. Roberto Perez will catch Josh Tomlin and bat ninth in the order in his place.

Vazquez is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

There's no clear starter behind the plate in Boston. Vazquez had started two in a row, but before that had sat for five of six. Sandy Leon starts Wednesday. With Leon hitting .182/.240/.287 and Vazquez posting a .211/.256/.293 line, neither is anything close to an appealing fantasy asset.

Perez (thumb) returns to the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates.

Perez was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to a lingering thumb soreness, an issue that dates back to early September when he missed seven games with a thumb sprain. He's back in action Wednesday, catching and batting cleanup, though it wouldn't be surprising if the issue requires more maintenance in the future.

Garver (concussion) was sent back to Minnesota on Wednesday and will likely remain sidelined for the rest of this season, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Garver was hit in the mask by a foul ball last week and after sitting out a few days he reported concussion-like symptoms over the weekend. The Twins have refrained from ruling him out just yet but the 27-year-old doesn't have any sort of timetable and with just 10 games left in the season, there isn't a whole lot of time to recover. Look for Willians Astudillo and Chris Gimenez to continue splitting starts in his place.

Narvaez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to Cleveland.

Narvaez belted his career-high eighth homer in the sixth inning off two-time Cy Young winner Corey Kluber. He'd hit well over the summer as the primary catcher; however, since Welington Castillo returned from a PED suspension, Narvaez has not been getting consistent at-bats. His start Tuesday was the ninth in the last 18 games, and he's hit just .179 (5-for-28) during that stretch.

Perez was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against the Pirates due to lingering soreness in his left thumb, Rustin Dodd of The Athletic reports.

Perez missed seven games at the start of September with a thumb sprain, but had started five of the last six games. Hopefully he'll be able to return to the lineup for Wednesday's series finale at Pittsburgh.

It's unclear at this point if Perez is dealing with an injury issue or if something else cropped up prior to the game. Meibrys Viloria will step in at catcher for the Royals, batting eighth.

McCann is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Twins.

McCann has started four of the last five games behind the dish, slashing just .143/.200/.357 over those contests. He'll give way to Grayson Greiner on Tuesday.

Jansen is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles.

The rookie catcher has hit a solid .254/.346/.433 in 23 games since his mid-August callup. Fellow rookie Reese McGuire will start behind the plate Tuesday.

Maldonado is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Mariners, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Maldonado will grab what appears to be a routine breather after starting the previous two games, going 3-for-6 with an RBI in those appearances. Brian McCann will set up behind the dish and hit eighth in this one.
