Hayes is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Cardinals.

This appears to be a scheduled day of rest for Hayes, who went 1-for-5 with a double in Monday's series against St. Louis. Vinny Capra will play third base and bat seventh Tuesday as the Pirates take on veteran right-hander Adam Wainwright.

Peraza was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

Peraza has done very little during his limited chances in the majors this season but has produced an .836 OPS with 14 home runs and 16 stolen bases in 2023 at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Yankees are expected to play him a lot down the stretch, with Peraza perhaps in line to receive the bulk of the starts at third base while also filling in at second and shortstop on occasion.

The Dodgers recalled Busch from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.

Busch has struggled in limited action at the major-league level, but he boasts a .323/.432/.615 batting line with 24 homers and 82 RBI across 88 games this season at Triple-A. The 25-year-old should get some starts on the Los Angeles infield while also cycling into the DH role as J.D. Martinez (groin) heads to the 10-day injured list.

The Reds promoted Stewart from Single-A Daytona to High-A Dayton on Aug. 8.

The 19-year-old third baseman earned the bump on to Dayton after showing some decent pop (10 home runs and 19 doubles) and exceptional plate discipline (66 walks against 59 strikeouts) over his 387 plate appearances in the Florida State League. Since joining the High-A club, Stewart is slashing .277/.386/.319 through 12 games.

Sosa went 2-for-4 with a triple and a two-run homer in Monday's 10-4 win over the Giants.

Sosa put the Phillies ahead 3-1 with a two-run blast off of Sean Manaea in the second inning before picking up his second triple of the year in the fourth. It's an encouraging effort for Sosa, who's now 4-for-6 over his last three games. However, he's retreated to a utility role since Bryce Harper's taken over as the Phillies' primary first baseman, moving Alec Bohm back to third. Overall, the 27-year-old Sosa is batting .252 with eight homers, 28 runs scored, 23 RBI and a .721 OPS across 228 plate appearances this season.

Longoria served as the designated hitter and went 1-for-3 in Monday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the Rangers.

Longoria was activated from the injured list earlier in the day and found a spot in the lineup against a left-hander. The third base position has changed since the last time Longoria was active. Gone is Emmanuel Rivera and in are Jace Peterson and Buddy Kennedy, the latter starting at the hot corner Monday. The lefty-swinging Peterson has been getting most of the work, as manager Torey Lovullo likes to platoon the position.

Machado went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Monday's 6-2 victory versus Miami.

Machado produced the game's first run with a first-inning sacrifice fly and tacked on a solo shot to center field in the fifth frame. The long ball was his third over his past three contests following a cold 12-game stretch during which he went homerless and batted .146. Though Machado's season .251/.317/.462 slash line is well below his norm, he's still been pretty productive with 24 home runs and 74 RBI over 476 plate appearances.

Gelof went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in a 6-4 win against Kansas City on Monday.

Gelof gave Oakland a 2-1 lead in the third inning with his 428-foot solo shot to center field. The rookie has gone deep nine times in his first 32 MLB games, outdoing the pace he set by hitting 12 long balls over 69 contests with Triple-A Las Vegas prior to getting called up. Gelof has been red-hot of late, batting .441 (15-for-34) with three homers, three doubles, six RBI and a stolen base over his past eight games.

The Yankees are expected to recall Peraza from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.

Peraza hit .308 and posted a .819 OPS over his last nine games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and his recent production in the minors looks as though it'll earn him another trip to the big leagues. The Yankees are likely to give their young players plenty of playing time down the stretch, with Peraza likely to get most of his starts at third base.

Garcia (ribs) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the A's.

Garcia worked as a reserve for a couple days after leaving Friday's contest with a rib issue, but he pinch hit Sunday and has been deemed ready to play a full nine innings. As he has done regularly of late, he will man the hot corner and hit leadoff Monday night.
