Asche is not in the lineup Friday against the Tigers.

Asche will head to the bench for the fifth consecutive game as the Tigers send southpaw Matt Boyd out to the mound. The 26-year-old is off to a brutal start offensively, batting just .057 to start the season, so his absence from the lineup isn't all too surprising.

Peterson went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Thursday's win over the Mets.

Getting the start at second base in place of Brandon Phillips (groin), Peterson chipped in his second straight two-hit game. Phillips is expected back in action Friday, however, likely sending Peterson and his .652 OPS through 18 games back to the bench.

Arenado went 1-for-5 with a solo home run during Thursday's loss to Washington.

Sporting a .314/.368/.663 slash line with 15 runs, seven home runs, 16 RBI and a .431 wOBA, Arenado has been as advertised to start 2017. He boasts a coveted high-floor, high-ceiling combo and is in the heart of his prime.

Alvarez is having a hard time learning to play the outfield at Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Not one of Alvarez's 851 career MLB games was spent in the outfield, but the Orioles are willing to ride out the experiment this year. However, the real question is whether or not the 30-year-old is prepared to stick with it. Alvarez, who has an opt-out clause in his contract for next month, could understandably decide to look elsewhere for work -- or possibly hang the cleats up altogether.

Rendon is not in the Nationals' Thursday lineup against the Rockies, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.

Rendon has not yet homered but was showing more signs of life earlier in the week, including a 3-for-4 Monday effort. He'll yield to Wilmer Difo at third base, though he's expected to get back in the lineup Friday.

Peterson replaced Brandon Phillips (groin) at second base in the second inning of Wednesday's win over the Mets, going 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

Phillips isn't expected to miss much time, but Peterson should get at least one start at second base Thursday while the veteran is recuperating. Assuming he does get the nod at the keystone over Emilio Bonifacio, Peterson could be a useful DFS punt play Thursday despite his soft .211/.302/.316 slash line through 43 plate appearances this season.

Segura went 3-for-6 for the second consecutive game Wednesday, notching a double, two RBI and two runs against the Tigers.

After returning with a 3-for-6 effort that included a homer Tuesday, Segura continued to look quite healthy -- effervescent, even. His BABIP's now at .400, so don't expect him to carry that .364 batting average for long, but Segura should still contribute in that category while contributing both power and speed, which makes him a very valuable fantasy asset indeed.

Reynolds was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Reynolds will give the Mets an extra infield option off the bench after Lucas Duda (elbow) and Wilmer Flores (knee) were placed on the disabled list a few days ago. Only Duda was an everyday starter of the two, and it's expected that Jay Bruce will see most of the at-bats at first base in his stead. As a result, Reynolds doesn't figure to be in line for regular starts with the big club, despite his hot start to the season with Las Vegas, where he hit .300 over 55 plate appearances.

Valencia entered Tuesday's 19-9 loss to the Tigers in the third inning after Mitch Haniger (oblique) exited and went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs.

Perhaps getting in some unexpected at-bats was just what the doctor ordered for the struggling veteran, who smacked his first homer of the season off Jordan Zimmermann in the fifth, a 404-foot laser to left, and who reached safely in all four plate appearances overall. It was precisely the type of showing that Valencia needed but has proven all too rare for him thus far in Seattle, a pivotal factor in the call-up of Dan Vogelbach from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.

Moustakas went 2-for-5 with a double and a solo home run in Tuesday's 10-5 loss to the White Sox.

The 28-year-old has been one of the few bright spots in the Royals' lineup so far in 2017, and Moustakas is now slashing .296/.333/.634 through 19 games with seven homers, 11 RBI and 12 runs scored.
