Vargas was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Vargas put together a nice season with Triple-A Reno prior to earning a promotion, slashing .311/.348/.445 with seven homers and 10 stolen bases across 124 games with the Aces. He'll serve as a utility option off the bench for the Diamondbacks over the final month of the season.

Moustakas is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs.

Moustakas will stick on the bench for a second straight game with the Cubs throwing another left-hander in Mike Montgomery. The Brewers face another southpaw (Jose Quintana) in Wednesday's series finale, though manager Craig Counsell may not want to keep Moustakas' bat out of the lineup for a third straight game. Travis Shaw is starting at third base and hitting sixth in this one.

Devers is not starting Tuesday against the Braves, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Reports indicated that Devers would be reduced to a platoon role after returning from a hamstring injury, and those reports look accurate so far. With southpaw Sean Newcomb on the mound, Eduardo Nunez will start at third base in place of Devers.

Anderson is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Anderson will retreat to the bench for what appears to be a routine day off following a string of seven consecutive starts. Miguel Rojas will start at third base and hit fifth in his place.

Devers (hamstring) was activated from the disabled list as expected Tuesday.

Devers had been out since mid-August with a hamstring strain. He's likely stuck in a timeshare with Eduardo Nunez at third base down the stretch.

Donaldson (calf) hit a grand slam in his first rehab game for Triple-A Columbus on Monday.

The third baseman went 1-for-2 with a walk on the day. He had already appeared in a pair of rehab games for High-A Dunedin before being shipped to Cleveland. He'll require a handful more before joining up with his new team, which is expected to happen Sept. 11, the first day he's eligible.

Davis was recalled by the Astros on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Davis appeared in 30 games for the Astros earlier in the season, hitting a disappointing .176/.247/.235. His numbers for Triple-A Fresno are far better, however, as he's hit .342/.406/.583 at that level. He's unlikely to be much more than a bench bat over the final month of the season unless the team suffers a sudden injury crisis.

Longoria went 1-for-4 with a triple and a trio of RBI in Monday's loss to Colorado.

Longoria has gotten off to a strong start in September, providing a triple, a homer and four RBI in three starts. The 32-year-old is currently sitting at 15 homers through 102 games, and has an outside shot of reaching the 20-homer mark despite missing six weeks with a broken hand earlier this year.

Duffy went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Monday against the Blue Jays.

Duffy drove in a pair in the second inning on a double to center field, handing the Rays a four-run lead. He sports a .299 batting average with 39 RBI and 10 stolen bases through 115 games this year. He's been hot at the plate recently, recording seven multi-hit games over his previous 10 contests.

Chapman went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's win over New York.

Chapman tacked on a run in the second inning on a double to center field, handing the Athletics a one-run lead. He's been firing on all cylinders at the plate recently, recording six multi-hit performances over his previous 10 ballgames, going 15-for-41 with four homers and six RBI during that span. Chapman sits with a .282/.365/.526 slash line through 123 games this year.
