Moncada is dealing with a mid-back strain and will be re-evaluated Thursday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Moncada isn't starting Tuesday against Washington and evidently won't be appearing off the bench either. His injury was originally referred to as upper-back tightness, so it's potentially worrisome that it's now being called a strain. A clearer picture of his return timetable should emerge Thursday. Jose Rondon would be in line for a starting role at third base should Moncada be forced to miss an extended period.

Donaldson was suspended for one game following Monday's night's altercation, but he'll appeal the ban and is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Donaldson was nicked by a pitch Monday night and it soon became clear that he wasn't happy about it, resulting in the ejection of both pitcher Joe Musgrove and Donaldson. Donaldson will be allowed to play until MLB makes a final ruling.

Moncada (back) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.

Moncada didn't appear to be particularly worried about the upper-back tightness that forced him to leave Monday's contest, but he'll sit for at least one game. The White Sox have an off day Wednesday, so he'll wind up getting at least two days to rest. Jose Rondon starts at third base.

Urshela went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and four RBI as the Yankees won the first game of a doubleheader against the Mets on Tuesday.

Urshela tied the game with his fifth homer, a two-run blast in the third inning, and also drove in runs on a single in the fifth and a double in the seventh. The 27-year-old has been outstanding this season, contributing a .320/.374/.479 slash line over 169 at-bats.

Arenado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday in the Rockies' 6-5 win over the Cubs.

Arenado's third-inning blast off Yu Darvish ended a six-game skid during which he went 4-for-22 with no extra-base knocks. Nothing has helped Arenado overcome brief lulls in his production quite like home cooking; he's batting .395/.440/.697 (158 wRC+) at Coors Field this season, compared to a still-respectable .273/.325/.525 (118 wRC+) in road venues.

Moncada downplayed his upper-back injury when discussing the matter with reporters after Monday's 12-1 loss, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The Nationals only held a two-run lead when Moncada departed with the injury in the top of the seventh, so his removal wasn't a byproduct of the blowout. Nonetheless, Moncada's comments suggest the back issue is more of a day-to-day concern rather than something that will likely require a trip to the injured list. There's still a decent possibility the White Sox hold him out of Tuesday's series finale, thereby affording him two days of rest due to Wednesday's off day.

Hayes went 2-for-5 with a solo homer for Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday.

The 22-year-old is playing above the Double-A level for the first time and the results have thus far proven to be mediocre. Hayes is slashing .245/.339/.395 in 220 at-bats. He's hit three home runs and now has 18 homers in 1,515 minor-league at-bats. He remains Pittsburgh's third baseman of the future, but the organization is looking for the gap power he's shown (20 doubles in 2019) to turn into home-run power.

Segura went 1-for-5 with a solo home run, a second run scored and a stolen base in Monday's 13-8 loss to the Diamondbacks.

He took Taylor Clarke deep in the first inning -- one of an MLB-record 13 homers the two teams launched on the night -- then reached on a fielder's choice, swiped second and scored in the third. Segura's now slashing .291/.339/.463 on the year with six homers, a somewhat disappointing four steals, 27 RBI and 41 runs in 56 games.

Vargas went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in Monday's 13-8 win over the Phillies.

The 27-year-old doubled his homer total on the year by going yard in the fifth and ninth innings -- part of an eight-HR explosion by the D-backs that set a new club record, and a 13-HR slugfest between the two teams that set a new major-league record. Vargas is now slashing .266/.298/.413 through 42 games with 12 RBI and 16 runs.

Escobar went 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored and five RBI in Monday's 13-8 win over the Phillies.

The two teams combined for an MLB-record 13 long balls in total, while Escobar led the charge on a franchise-record eight for Arizona. The 30-year-old remains locked in at the plate, slashing .342/.376/.734 over his last 18 games with seven home runs, 16 runs scored and a whopping 23 RBI.
