Vargas was a healthy scratch from Monday's lineup against the Dodgers, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

The Diamondbacks originally had Ketel Marte (groin) starting in center field in his first game back, but the team felt it would be better if Marte were at second base, prompting the lineup change. Tim Locastro is now starting in center field, with Marte at the keystone and Vargas available off the bench.

Vargas was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Dodgers.

It's unclear what prompted Vargas' removal from Monday's starting nine. Ketel Marte is covering second base in place of Vargas, while Tim Locastro entered the lineup in center field.

Devers (hamstring) is back in action as expected Monday against the White Sox, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Devers hadn't started since leaving Wednesday's game with hamstring tightness, though he did appear twice off the bench. He'll hit cleanup and play third base against Chicago.

Kieboom went 3-for-4 with three walks, a grand slam and a second run scored for Triple-A Fresno on Sunday.

The 21-year-old is now slashing .328/.463/.578 through 18 games in June with three homers and 18 RBI to go along with a strong 15:15 BB:K. Kieboom's path back to the majors is blocked at the moment thanks to Brian Dozier turning his season around, but the Nats' No. 1 fantasy prospect is once again showing that he has little left to learn in the minors.

Walls was promoted to Double-A Montgomery on Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls was slashing .269/.339/.417 across 180 plate appearances with High-A Charlotte, a line that partly consists of 13 extra-base hits (seven doubles, two triples, four home runs) and 26 RBI. The 22-year-old shortstop is likely to spend the remainder of the season with the Biscuits, his fourth stop in the Rays organization since being selected in the first-year player draft back in 2017.

Newman went 2-for-6 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's extra-innings win over the Padres.

Newman came up clutch in this one, driving in a run and scoring one during the Pirates' three-run ninth inning before drawing a walkoff walk in the 11th frame. The 25-year-old shortstop has now hit safely in 11 consecutive games, going 18-for-50 (.360) with five extra-base hits (four doubles and a triple), three stolen bases and a 5:4 BB:K during that stretch.

Machado went 3-for-6 with two doubles, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's extra-innings loss to the Pirates.

Machado's night was bookended by a pair of doubles in the first and 11th frames. The third baseman added a two-RBI single in the eighth, though he also committed a key error that helped the Pirates mount a comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning. Machado is one of the hottest bats in baseball at the moment, evidenced by his 11-game hitting streak during which he's notched eight multi-hit games and gone 23-for-49 (.469) with six homers, six doubles, 12 RBI and a stolen base.

Donaldson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Nationals.

Donaldson singled in the second inning before putting the Braves up 1-0 in the fourth frame with his solo shot off of Austin Voth. The veteran third baseman has now homered six times in his last nine games while going 16-for-37 (.432) with 10 RBI and six runs scored.

LeMahieu went 3-for-4 with a triple, a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's loss to the Astros.

LeMahieu was the Yankees' lone bright spot in this one, accounting for half of the team's hits while playing a part in all four runs scored. The veteran infielder is now in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak during which he has gone 15-for-38 (.395) with three homers, 10 RBI and two stolen bases. On the season, LeMahieu is slashing .322/.370/.488 with 10 home runs, four swiped bags, 54 runs scored and 51 RBI in 71 games.

Anderson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in a 6-4 victory against the Phillies on Sunday.

Garrett Cooper and Anderson hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth. This was also Anderson's fifth multi-hit game in the last 11 contests, and during that stretch, he has three homers. Anderson is batting .254 with 10 home runs, 34 RBI, 27 runs and four steals in 284 at-bats this season.
