Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Posts fourth straight two-hit game

LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run, another RBI and two runs scored overall in a 7-3 victory against the Mariners on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old has lost his lead in the AL batting title race, but he's hardly slumping with a .335 average. LeMahieu has posted four straight multi-hit games, and he already has set career highs in home runs and RBI while retaining a chance of establishing a new high-water mark in runs scored as well. LeMahieu has 23 home runs, 89 RBI, 93 runs and four steals in 499 at-bats this season.

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Removed following scary HBP

Chapman exited Wednesday's game at Kansas City after being hit in the head by a pitch, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Chapman appeared to be okay as he initially remained in the contest, but he didn't retake the field after lining out in the second inning. The pitch appeared to hit in the area of his helmet's left ear guard. Chad Pinder has taken over at third base for the A's.

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Leaves with groin tightness

Urshela was removed from Wednesday's game at Seattle with left groin tightness, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Urshela started the game at third base and went 1-for-2 before exiting the contest. The exact severity of the injury is unclear, but the 27-year-old believes he'll be able rejoin the lineup following Thursday's scheduled off day, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Brewers' Mike Moustakas: Expected back over weekend

Manager Craig Counsell said he expects Moustakas (wrist) to play this weekend in Chicago, though he noted the infielder may not be ready for Friday's series opener, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Moustakas has missed the past two games with a sore left wrist, but it sounds like he'll be ready to rejoin the lineup over the weekend after getting another day -- the Brewers are off Thursday -- or two to recover. The soon-to-be 31-year-old is slashing .284/.348/.531 with five home runs in 21 games this month.

  • Drew Robinson 3B | TEX

    Drew Robinson: Released by Cardinals

Robinson (elbow) was released by the Cardinals on Wednesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Robinson had already been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing partial Tommy John surgery earlier in the month, so the Cardinals opted to cut ties with the utility man to free up a spot on their 40-man roster ahead of September. The 27-year-old has appeared in 100 big-league games across the past three seasons, slashing .202/.296/.359 with nine home runs and two steals in 253 plate appearances.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Registers another multi-hit game

LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's win over Seattle.

LeMahieu has collected exactly two hits in four of his last five games and has notched multiple base knocks 13 times in August. That gives him 53 multi-hit games on the season, tied for the major-league lead. He also ranks second in baseball with a .333 batting average while swatting 22 homers and driving in 87 runs in his initial campaign with the Yankees.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Brewers' Mike Moustakas: Sitting out Wednesday

Moustakas (wrist) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

The Brewers will let Moustakas rest up through Thursday's off day while he tends to a sore left wrist, which he sustained after he was struck by a grounder in Monday's series opener with St. Louis. With Moustakas on the bench for a second straight day, Cory Spangenberg will draw another start at the hot corner and bat seventh.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Homers as part of three-hit game

Arenado went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBI in a loss to Boston on Tuesday.

Arenado plated a run with a double in the fifth inning and drilled a two-run homer to left field in the ninth. The 28-year-old has been on a long ball binge in August, trailing only Gleyber Torres with 12 home runs this month. Arenado continues to be one of the most reliable offensive forces in baseball, slashing .308/.368/.573 with 34 homers and 103 RBI this season.
