McKinstry went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Saturday's 10-5 win over the Twins.

Getting the start at shortstop and batting eighth, the utility player went deep in the sixth inning, launching the fourth of four homers off Bailey Ober on the afternoon. With Trey Sweeney optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday, McKinstry figures to see a lot more action at shortstop in a timeshare with Javier Baez -- a strict platoon would benefit McKinstry as the left-handed hitter of the duo, but Baez's defense could tip the scales in his favor. McKinstry is making a case with his bat to be the primary option, batting .400 (12-for-30) over his last 10 games with a double, a triple, two homers, three steals, five runs and six RBI.

Schmitt (wrist) has been scratched from the lineup for Saturday's matchup against the White Sox, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Schmitt was originally penciled into the starting nine as the third baseman after missing the Giants' previous two contests, but he's since been removed from the lineup. Christian Koss is now starting at the hot corner, while Brett Wisely is getting a third straight start at second base.

Schmitt (wrist) is batting fifth and starting at third base against the White Sox on Saturday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

After being hit by a pitch in the left wrist Wednesday, Schmitt was held out of San Francisco's subsequent two games. However, he appears to have avoided a serious injury. With Schmitt manning the hot corner, Christian Koss has shifted back to second base while Brett Wisely has moved back to the bench.

Ramirez (forearm) is starting at third base and batting third against the Cardinals on Saturday.

Ramirez was hit by a pitch to his right forearm during Thursday's game against the Blue Jays. The good news was that X-rays came back negative, and he will return to action after being held out of Friday's lineup. Ramirez has slashed .301/.370/.446 with seven steals, three home runs and 10 RBI in 92 plate appearances since the beginning of June.

Williamson is not in Seattle's starting lineup against Texas on Saturday.

Miles Mastrobuoni will start at the keystone and bat eighth while Williamson begins Saturday's game on the bench. Williamson has gone 6-for-18 (.333) with four runs scored over his last five starts.

The Blue Jays recalled Wagner from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.

Wagner made Toronto's Opening Day roster but was optioned to Triple-A in late April after Daulton Varsho (hamstring) returned from the 10-day injured list. Wagner spent nearly a month on Buffalo's 7-day IL due to a foot injury but has gone 11-for-41 (.268) with one steal, four doubles, one home run and six RBI since being reinstated from the IL in mid-June. The Blue Jays optioned Alan Roden to Buffalo in a corresponding move.

Westburg (hand) is not in the Orioles' starting lineup against the Rays on Saturday.

Westburg aggravated his left index finger injury during Friday's win over the Rays. He's considered day-to-day and could be available off the bench as a pinch hitter. Ramon Urias will start at third base and bat second.

The Orioles selected Rivera's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday.

The move gives the Orioles additional infield depth with Jordan Westburg currently day-to-day due to a left finger injury that he aggravated during Friday's 22-8 win over the Rays. Rivera was DFA'd by Baltimore on June 10 and was outrighted to Norfolk two days later after clearing waivers. He has gone 6-for-28 (.214) with four walks and four RBI in Triple-A since his outright assignment.

Vientos went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Friday's loss to the Pirates.

Activated from the IL earlier in the day and seeing his first big-league action since June 2, Vientos got the start at DH and hit sixth but couldn't make a contribution at the plate. The 25-year-old has had a tough year even aside from the hamstring strain that cost him nearly a month of action, slashing .225/.292/.372 through 54 contests with six homers and 21 RBI. If he continues to struggle to regain his 2024 form, the Mets could begin to phase Vientos out of the 3B/DH mix.

Mauricio started at second base and went 1-for-3 with a walk in Friday's 9-1 loss to the Pirates.

The 24-year-old was a candidate to get optioned back to Triple-A Syracuse when Mark Vientos (hamstring) was activated from the injured list Friday, but Mauricio's recent performance earned him a reprieve. Counting Friday's contest, Mauricio has now hit safely in six of his last seven games, going 8-for-24 (.33) with a double and a home run. He also has a 1:8 BB:K during that time, however, and plate discipline remains the biggest obstacle between Mauricio and a true breakout. With Vientos and Brett Baty handling third base and designated hitter duties, the Mets are keeping Mauricio in the lineup at the keystone while Jeff McNeil gets time in center field. However, Mauricio's path to regular playing time could get more complicated when Jesse Winker (oblique) returns from the IL in the next week or two. If Mauricio seems likely to fall into a bench role at that point, a return to Triple-A might be the best route for his development.
