Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Supplies firepower in loss
Machado went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs and four RBI in Friday's loss to Colorado.
Machado produced nearly all of San Diego's offense in the loss, as he collected half of the team's hits and drove in all four of its runs. The multi-homer game was Machado's second of the season, both of which have come in July. On the month, he is slashing .360/.430/.744 with eight homers, 25 RBI and an 11:13 BB:K over 24 games.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Pair of hits in return
Arenado (forearm) went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in a win over the Twins on Friday.
The veteran slugger was thought to have a good chance of not missing any additional time beyond his early exit from Wednesday's game after getting plunked in the forearm, and that ultimately proved correct. Arenado is wrapping up July wielding a hot bat, as Friday's production pushed his slash line over the last nine contests to an outstanding .324/.410/.676 across 39 plate appearances.

Austin Riley 3B | ATL
Braves' Austin Riley: Power surge continues
Riley went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 9-5 loss to Milwaukee.
The third baseman kept crushing Friday, knocking his seventh homer in his last eight games. Riley is riding a nine-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 15-for-35 (.429) with 15 RBI and eight runs scored. The 24-year-old is slashing .289/.371/.526 with career highs in homers (22), RBI (62) and runs scored (53) through 104 games in a breakout season.

Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Brewers' Eduardo Escobar: Instant impact with new club
Escobar went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and two total runs scored in Friday's 9-5 win over Atlanta.
The 32-year-old's first start with Milwaukee went well, as he went yard in the ninth inning to tack on an insurance run. He got the start at his natural third base position Friday, but switch-hitter is expected to play first-base against lefties to allow Milwaukee to keep Luis Urias in the lineup. Escobar is up to 23 homers, 66 RBI, 52 runs scored and a stolen base through 405 plate appearances, and his counting stats could be in for a boost now that he's away from Arizona's pitiful offense.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Phillies' Jean Segura: Dealing with minor knee issue
Segura's absence from the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates is due to a minor knee issue, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Segura is merely considered day-to-day, so it's possible he's back in the lineup as soon as Saturday. Ronald Torreyes starts at second base in his absence.
-
J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Mets' J.D. Davis: On bench Friday
Davis isn't in the lineup Friday against the Reds.
Davis will get a chance to reset after he went 0-for-9 with six strikeouts across his last three appearances. Jonathan Villar will start at third base and bat sixth.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Returns to lineup
Arenado (forearm) is starting Friday's game against the Twins, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Arenado was removed from Wednesday's game due to a bruised forearm, but he'll be able to play third base and bat third after Thursday's scheduled off day. Across his last three games, the 30-year-old has gone 4-for-9 with a home run, a triple, three runs, an RBI, and two walks.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Phillies' Jean Segura: Not in Friday's lineup
Segura isn't starting Friday against the Pirates.
Segura will get a rare day off after he went 1-for-7 with two runs and a walk across the last two games. Ronald Torreyes will start at the keystone and bat seventh.

Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA
Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Moving to Cubs for Kimbrel
Madrigal (hamstring) and Codi Heuer were acquired by the Cubs from the White Sox on Friday in exchange for right-hander Craig Kimbrel, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
The 24-year-old underwent season-ending surgery to repair the proximal tendon tears in his right hamstring back in June, but he still brings a ton of value for the Cubs even if it won't come in 2021. Madrigal lost his prospect status this year prior to the injury, and he hit .305/.349/.425 with two homers, 10 doubles, four triples, 21 RBI and 30 runs in 54 games before landing on the injured list. The status of Madrigal's recovery remains unclear, though he was expected to be ready for 2022 spring training based on the initial rehab timeline. He should slot in as the starter at second base for his new team once healthy, likely hitting near the top of the order.

Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW
Reds' Mike Moustakas: Begins rehab assignment
Moustakas (heel) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Friday.
A bruised right heel has kept Moustakas on the shelf since mid-May. The length of his absence means he'll likely need more than a few games of minor-league action before he returns to the active roster. The Reds are clearly happy with his recent progress, however, as reports from as recently as Thursday indicated that he wouldn't begin a rehab assignment until next week.
