Nick Maton DH | CHW
Phillies' Nick Maton: On bench against lefty
Maton is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.
The lefty-hitting Maton will take a seat against southpaw Nick Lodolo, ending a streak of three consecutive starts for the 25-year-old. With Philadelphia optioning Darick Hall to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday, Maton could have a path to playing time against right-handed pitching in the short term, but his opportunities will likely take a hit when Bryce Harper (thumb) returns from the 60-day injured list next week.

Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Returns from IL
The Pirates activated Hayes (back) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. He'll start at third base and bat third Tuesday against Atlanta.
As expected, it was a brief stay on the IL for Hayes, who hasn't played since Aug. 11 due to a minor back injury. Barring another injury, Hayes, who's slashed .297/.350/.405 with six RBI in 10 games this month, should be an everyday staple near the top of Pittsburgh's lineup.

Brian Anderson RF | ATL
Marlins' Brian Anderson: Reaches base three times in win
Anderson went 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI double in Monday's 3-0 win over the Athletics.
Anderson has settled in as the Marlins' primary right fielder since being activated from the injured list just over a week ago, but he was deployed as the designated hitter in Monday's series opener. Though he's turned in an underwhelming .660 OPS in his first nine games back from the IL, Anderson should benefit from steady playing time while all of Avisail Garcia (hamstring), Garrett Cooper (concussion), Jorge Soler (back) and Jazz Chisholm (back) are on the shelf.

Nick Madrigal 2B | LAA
Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Sitting for early game
Madrigal is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Cardinals.
Zach McKinstry will man second base and handle leadoff duties while Madrigal gets a breather for the early game of the twin bill. Madrigal led off in each of the Cubs' last five games, going 6-for-21 with a walk, three runs and an RBI.

Rodolfo Castro 2B | PHI
Pirates' Rodolfo Castro: Swipes fourth bag
Castro went 1-for-3 with one steal in Monday's 2-1 loss against Atlanta.
The 23-year-old added to what has quietly been a strong stretch since being recalled on Aug. 8. His stolen base was his fourth on the season, and his base hit extends his hitting streak to four games. He is now batting .326 since being called up and is looking like he could be a sneaky middle infield option in deeper leagues while he still has the hot hand.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Signs extension with Dodgers
Muncy signed a one-year, $13.5 million contract extension with the Dodgers on Monday, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports. The deal also includes a team option for 2024 at $10 million plus incentives.
Muncy is hitting just .190 this season, but he owns an .896 OPS since the All-Star break, and that was all the Dodgers needed to see before locking him up for another year -- and perhaps two. Muncy has been a fixture in the Los Angeles lineup, and he will presumably remain a regular in 2023.

Nick Maton DH | CHW
Phillies' Nick Maton: Nabs third straight start
Maton will start in left field and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Reds.
After going 2-for-7 with a walk, two RBI and a run while picking up starts in left field and at second base in the final two games of Philadelphia's weekend series with the Mets, Maton will stick in the lineup as the Phillies welcome the Reds to town. Maton and Bradley Zimmer should be candidates to pick up more work in the outfield while Brandon Marsh (ankle) is on the injured list.

Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Still not starting
Wisdom (finger) isn't starting Monday against the Cardinals.
Wisdom is dealing with a finger strain and will be held out of the lineup for a second consecutive game. Whether he's available off the bench remains to be seen, but P.J. Higgins will start at first base and bat eighth.
