Alexander went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 3-0 win over the Dodgers.
Aelxander is up to seven homers this season, and three of them have come over his last seven games. The infielder has gone 7-for-25 (.280) with four walks and nine strikeouts in that span. He's up to a .234/.331/.441 slash line with 19 RBI, 21 runs scored and two stolen bases over 168 plate appearances. Alexander has gotten most of his recent playing time at third base, though he covered second base while Ketel Marte served as designated hitter in Friday's contest.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Under the weather
Muncy (oblique) did not participate in baseball activities and was sent home Friday due to an illness, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
It's a slight setback for Muncy, who continues to rehab from a right oblique strain that landed him on the 10-day injured list Aug. 15. He's expected to embark on a rehab assignment next week, and the veteran third baseman is targeting a return from the IL during the Dodgers' weekend road series against the Orioles starting Friday, Sept. 5.

Nationals' Brady House: Taking seat Friday
House is out of the lineup for Friday's game versus Tampa Bay, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
House started the previous two games but will head to the bench Friday while slumping at the plate, as he has a .194/.203/.239 slash line and 36.2 percent strikeout rate through 20 games in August. Paul DeJong is instead manning the hot corner and batting seventh for Washington.

Cardinals' Cesar Prieto: Contract selected
The Cardinals selected Prieto's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Friday.
Prieto is a high-contact, low-power infielder who has slashed .296/.358/.453 with 10 home runs with a 13.4 percent strikeout rate this season at Memphis. He's capable of handling second base, third base and shortstop and will likely operate in a reserve role. Prieto will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.

Cardinals' Cesar Prieto: Set for Friday call up
The Cardinals will select Prieto's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Prieto will be making his MLB debut when he gets into a game. A previous report had indicated the 26-year-old second baseman would join the team Thursday against the Pirates, but he'll be called up in time for a three-game weekend road series against the Reds instead. Prieto has slashed .296/.358/.453 with 10 home runs and 11 stolen bases in 450 plate appearances with Memphis this season

Marlins' Connor Norby: Reinstated from IL
The Marlins activated Norby (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Friday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
As expected, Norby will rejoin the active roster ahead of Friday's series opener against the Mets. The third baseman had been sidelined since July 13 due to a fractured hamate bone in his left wrist that required surgery. He slashed .241/.289/.364 in 273 plate appearances this season before the injury. Maximo Acosta was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move.

Cardinals' Cesar Prieto: Expected to make big-league debut
The Cardinals are expected to select the contract of Prieto on Thursday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
The Cardinals acquired Prieto in 2023, and he's spent the last two full seasons at Triple-A. He has a solid .811 OPS across 450 plate appearances, good for 113 wRC+. The team's plans for Prieto are unclear, though they'll need to formally select his contract before the move is official.

Marlins' Connor Norby: Will return Friday
Norby (wrist) will be activated off the injured list Friday,Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports.
Norby has been sidelined since July 13 and has been on a rehab assignment for around two weeks. He's gone 10-for-25 with three home runs during the rehab stint and should immediately return to playing nearly every day at third base.

Nolan Arenado 3B | STL
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Getting shoulder checked out
Manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Arenado will return to St. Louis in the coming days to have his injured right shoulder examined by team doctors so that the Cardinals can map out a potential rehab assignment for him, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Arenado has been rehabbing his right shoulder strain at the club's spring training complex in Florida and is still in the early stages of a throwing program. If he gets good news from his visit with team doctors, Arenado could be cleared for rehab games before long. Nolan Gorman has been serving as the Cardinals' primary third baseman since Arenado landed on the injured list Aug. 1.

Giants' Matt Chapman: Tallies three hits, two RBI in win
Chapman went 3-for-4 with a home run, two total runs and two total RBI in Wednesday's 12-3 rout of the Cubs.
Chapman and Rafael Devers combined for seven of San Francisco's 13 hits, with the former collecting three of those knocks. Among the third baseman's hits was a run-scoring single in the fifth inning and a solo homer to left field in the seventh. Chapman is still batting a poor 11-for-51 (.216 average) through 15 games in August, but he may be starting to perk up at the plate -- over his past three games, he's gone 5-for-11 with three extra-base hits (two home runs and a double).
