Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Angels' Anthony Rendon: No delay in arrival at camp
Rendon arrived at camp Monday, Trent Rush of Angels Radio AM830 reports.
There had been some concern that weather issues in Texas would delay Rendon's arrival, but he was ultimately able to report on the same day as the rest of the Angels' position players. The third baseman will look to build upon a solid first season in Los Angeles during which he slashed .286/.418/.497 with nine home runs and 31 RBI.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Slowed by soreness
Moncada's throwing has been limited thus far in camp due to arm soreness, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
While it would certainly be preferable for Moncada to show up to camp without an injury, the White Sox don't seem overly concerned about this particular issue, framing it as simply an effort to err on the side of caution as it's still February. Moncada should have plenty of time to get up to speed by the start of the regular season unless the arm issue develops into something more serious.

Jake Burger 1B | TEX
White Sox's Jake Burger: Mentioned as DH candidate
Burger was listed by manager Tony La Russa as a potential designated hitter this season, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Andrew Vaughn is considered the favorite for the job, but Burger also has some prospect pedigree himself. He hit .271/.335/.409 at the Low-A level in 2017 after being taken 11th overall in that year's draft, but Achilles issues wiped out his next two seasons. With the minor leagues canceled last year, he was forced to join an independent league to get some at-bats. His lack of high-level minors experience means he's probably a long shot at best to crack the Opening Day squad, but he's on the team's 40-man roster so it might not be too long before he gets his shot.

Gio Urshela 3B | MIN
Yankees' Gio Urshela: Could play in exhibition opener
Yankees manager Aaron Boone suggested that Urshela (elbow) may be ready to play in the team's first exhibition game Sunday against the Phillies, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Even if the Yankees decide to hold Urshela out of Sunday's game, the 29-year-old doesn't sound like he'll have to wait long to make his spring debut. The third baseman required surgery in December to remove a bone spur from his right elbow, but he looks to be close to 100 percent as the Yankees open spring training.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Athletics' Matt Chapman: Limited to DH in early spring games
Chapman isn't expected to take the field for the Athletics' first few spring games but will serve as the designated hitter, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Chapman has been fully cleared for workouts to start camp as he works his way back from September hip surgery, but the team will bring him along slowly in game action. Barring setbacks, he'll still have more than enough time to prepare for Opening Day.

Josh Jung 3B | TEX
Rangers' Josh Jung: Unlikely to make roster
Texas manager Chris Woodward does not envision Jung making the major-league roster out of camp, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
There's an opportunity at third base, but the Rangers want to groom Jung, the club's top prospect, to be ready for the majors. He's had just 198 professional plate appearances, all in the lower levels, although he was reportedly a standout last summer at the alternate training site. Assistant general manager Mike Daly, who oversees player development, said last week that Jung will likely open the season at Triple-A Round Rock.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Angels' Anthony Rendon: Could be late arriver to camp
Rendon could have a late arrival to spring camp due to the inclement weather in Texas, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
With much of Texas still dealing with the ramifications of a severe winter storm, Rendon is not guaranteed to be able to make it to camp on time. The delay -- if there is one -- is unlikely to affect the veteran's preparation for the coming campaign given that camp is still in its earliest days.

Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU
Tigers' Isaac Paredes: Held back by visa issues
Paredes' arrival at camp has been delayed due to visa issues, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Paredes is one of six Tigers who have yet to report for similar reasons. With Opening Day still more than a month away, he'll have plenty of time to get ready for the start of the season assuming the delay doesn't stretch on for too long.

Jordan Groshans 3B | ATL
Blue Jays' Jordan Groshans: Thinks he's ready for bigs
Groshans, who has added about 20 pounds of muscle to his frame since he played at Low-A in 2019, is out to prove he's ready to make his major-league debut, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. "I know a lot of people will think I'm crazy for that, but I'm ready," Groshans said this week. "I think I've been ready for that. I'm here to show everybody that I'm ready to be in the big leagues."
The 21-year-old has gotten more explosive as well as bigger, and after spending last season at the Jays' alternate training site, Groshans feels he's better prepared mentally for the next challenge as well. With Marcus Semien signed to a one-year deal to handle second base, it's highly unlikely Groshans will be able to force his way onto the big-league roster this year no matter how he looks in camp, but a strong showing this season in the high minors will position him to join Austin Martin as the next wave of hitting talent to join the Jays in 2022.

Jeimer Candelario 3B | LAA
Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Arrives at camp
Candelario arrived at Tigers camp Saturday and participated in fielding drills, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Candelario was one of several Detroit position players to arrive early, as full-squad workouts don't start until Monday. The 27-year-old might be preparing for increased competition at first base with the Tigers adding Renato Nunez on a minor-league deal this month. Candelario performed well in a shortened 2020 season, finishing with a career-best .872 OPS along with seven home runs and 29 RBI in 52 games, so he should get the first crack at first base, though Nunez and his 43 home runs the past two years looms as a threat to his playing time.
