White Sox's Jake Burger: Smashes walk-off grand slam

Burger went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Tigers.

Burger came up clutch with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning. This was his second homer in his last four games, but he's seen his playing time drop off lately after holding a steady role in mid-May. The 27-year-old has hit just .209 (9-for-43) over his last 14 contests. For the season, he's at a respectable .265/.317/.606 slash line with 12 homers, 29 RBI, 22 runs scored and a stolen base through 145 plate appearances. With Yoan Moncada firmly in place as the starting third baseman, Burger's best bet for playing time remains at designated hitter.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Out of Sunday's lineup

Donaldson is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Donaldson started the past two games after being activated from the injured list Thursday, and he'll take a seat Sunday after he went 2-for-8 with two home runs and three RBI. DJ LeMahieu will start at third base while Giancarlo Stanton serves as the designated hitter.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Avoids serious injury

Lewis appears to have avoided a concussion but sustained a laceration to his forehead after being involved in a collision in Sunday's game against Guardians, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The 23-year-old is also dealing with some general soreness after he ran into the Guardians' Gabriel Arias at first base late in Sunday's contest. Lewis looks like he'll avoid a trip to the injured list, and he'll have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery before the Twins return to action Tuesday at Tampa Bay.

Twins' Royce Lewis: Leaves after collision

Lewis was removed from Sunday's game against the Guardians with an apparent upper body injury after being involved in a collision at first base, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The 23-year-old collided with Guardians first baseman Gabriel Arias while attempting to beat out a grounder during the eighth inning, and Lewis flipped over Arias and appeared to land on his arms and head. Lewis was evaluated by the training staff for a few minutes but eventually left the field under his own power. Minnesota has a team day off Monday, and it's unclear if the young infielder will be available for Tuesday's series opener in Tampa Bay.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Sitting again Sunday

Urias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at San Francisco, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.

The 29-year-old finds himself on the bench for the second consecutive game despite the fact Gunnar Henderson (back) isn't in the lineup Sunday. Urias has gone just 2-for-20 in seven games since he returned from the injured list May 26. Josh Lester is making his team debut at third base after having his contract selected Saturday.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Held out of Sunday's lineup

Henderson (back) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.

The 21-year-old's removal from Saturday's contest due to lower-back discomfort was labeled precautionary, but he'll still be out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale. The absence will give Henderson two straight days of rest since the Orioles have a team day off Monday. Josh Lester will make his Baltimore debut at third base after having his contract selected Saturday.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Could return Tuesday vs. Cubs

Angels manager Phil Nevin said Sunday that Rendon (groin) is likely to return from the 10-day injured list Tuesday or Wednesday versus the Cubs, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Nevin implied that Wednesday is a more likely for Rendon's return than Tuesday, but regardless, the Angels' everyday third baseman looks poised to rejoin the mix in the coming days. Rendon has been on the shelf since May 15 with a left groin strain, and he appears set to bypass a rehab assignment prior to being activated. Rendon was playing well in the weeks prior to his injury, and he should go back to hitting in the middle of the Los Angeles lineup upon his return.

  • Jonah Bride 3B | TEX

    Athletics' Jonah Bride: Sitting Sunday

Bride is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Marlins.

Bride will take a seat for the second straight game, with the Marlins having started right-handed pitchers on both occasions. Jace Peterson will man the hot corner and hit seventh Sunday in place of Bride, who may be relegated to a short-side platoon role.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Takes seat Sunday

Moncada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Moncada started the previous five games but will head to the bench after going 1-for-17 with two walks and eight strikeouts during that stretch. Elvis Andrus will shift to the hot corner while Romy Gonzalez starts at second base.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Has key walk in win

Devers went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Rays in the first game of a doubleheader. He went 0-for-2 with two walks in the nightcap.

Devers worked an eight-pitch walk right before Justin Turner delivered a three-run double in a pivotal six-run sixth inning during the afternoon game. Devers has always been willing take a base on balls during his career, but the third baseman hadn't exhibited that trait for much of 2023... until recently. Devers sat on a career-low 4.6 walk rate to start the week but has walked five times in his last four games.
