Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe, who is on the disabled list retroactive to May 28 due to his calf injury, is nearing a return to the team, MLB.com reports Wednesday.
Plouffe went 2 for 4 with a homer in his second rehab game Tuesday. He'll play all nine innings for the Red Wings Thursday. He could be back by the weekend.
