Danny Valencia stays hot for Orioles
Orioles designated hitter Danny Valencia remained red hot on Saturday in a 4-3 walk-off win over the White Sox from Baltimore. The right-handed hitter has been a savior for Baltimore against left-handed starters.
Valencia went 3 for 4 in the game with two doubles. He's batting .314 on the season after 102 at-bats for the Orioles with seven homers and 15 runs batted in.
Valencia has recorded hits in eight of his last nine games and all eight of those games have been multi-hit performances. In fact, Valencia has gone 18 for 32 (.563) over his last nine games with six doubles, three homers and seven RBI for Baltimore. -

Trevor Plouffe homers among four hits
Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe had four hits, including a homer, in Tuesday's extra-inning game at Houston. Plouffe went deep in the third inning for his 14th of the year.
Plouffe went 4 for 6 in the game with the two-run homer. He drove in two runs and is batting .245 on the year. The 27-year-old has hit in 10 of his last 11 games and has homered in back-to-back contests for Minnesota. -

Trevor Plouffe goes deep for Twins
Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe homered and recorded three hits Monday during a 10-6 win at Houston. Plouffe went deep for the 13th time in the second inning for a solo shot.
Plouffe finished the game 3 for 3 with a walk and the one RBI. He was caught stealing for the first time on the year and is batting .239 for the Twins.
The 27-year-old Plouffe has gone 9 for 23 (.391) over a seven-game hitting streak. He has two doubles, a homer and the one RBI over that stretch.

Indians add five players to roster
The Indians made five promotions to the roster as part of September callups Sunday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Added to the roster for the stretch run were right-handed pitchers Preston Guilmet and Blake Wood and lefty Nick Hagadone. The Tribe also purchased the contracts of catcher Kelly Shoppach and infielder Jose Ramirez from Columbus and Double-A Akron, respectively.
The 20-year-old Ramirez hit .272 over 113 games for Akron this season with 38 stolen bases. All of the relievers spent some time up in the majors this season, except for Wood, who last pitched in the big leagues in 2011 with the Royals. -

Evan Longoria was held hitless for the fourth straight game, as he went 0 for 4 with a strikeout in the Rays' loss to the Angels on Thursday.
Longoria's batting average fell to .267.

Josh Donaldson collects three hits in win
Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson was part of a barrage of 21 Oakland hits in his team's 14-4 win over the Tigers Wednesday, going 3 for 4 with one double, two RBI and two runs.
It was the seventh time this season Donaldson had at least three hits in a game, but the first time he accomplished the feat in August. He owns a .295/.372/.479 line with 19 home runs and 77 RBI as he contnues to play an integral role in the A's offense.

Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson will hit second against the Tigers Tuesday.
Donaldson has been used as a middle-of-the-order hitter lately, but will get a chance to move up in the order. He's hitting .291/.370/.476 in 471 at-bats. Donaldson is facing off against Justin Verlander.

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria will serve as the club's designated hitter Monday against the Royals.
Longoria will be replaced by Kelly Johnson at third. Longoria is hitting .276/.351/.526 in 479 at-bats.

Evan Longoria homers again for Rays
Rays third baseman Evan Longoria did all he could to beat the Yankees Sunday. It wasn't enough in the 3-2 extra-inning loss.
Longoria drove in both Tampa Bay runs in the game with his solo homer off Ivan Nova in t he sixth inning and an RBI single in the first.
The HR was the 28th of the year for Longoria, who finished 2 for 5 with two RBI. He has 71 runs driven in on the year for the Rays.
Longoria has gone 6 for 13 over his last three contests with a home run in each game and five RBI over that span.

Josh Donaldson goes deep for A's
Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson homered Sunday during a 10-3 loss at Baltimore. Donaldson went deep in the eighth inning for a two-run blast.
Donaldson hit his 19th home run Sunday as he finished 1 for 2 with two walks. He drove in two runs and is batting .292. He added his third stolen base of the season.
The 27-year-old Donaldson has 74 RBI on the year for Oakland. He's homered twice in his last five games with five runs driven in over that stretch.
