Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC
Royals' Nicky Lopez: Shows off speed in win
Lopez went 1-for-2 with a triple, two walks, two RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Monday's 9-5 win over the Blue Jays.
The Royals' offense was virtually non-existent for the first couple games of the season, but they were active Monday. The steal was Lopez's first of the season, and he also sparked a four-run rally in the fourth inning by plating Jackie Bradley and Hunter Dozier with his triple. Lopez's speed is about the only appealing part of his profile -- especially since he doesn't have an everyday spot in the lineup to begin 2023, though he could certainly earn one if he plays well.

Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Reaches base five times Monday
Torres went 2-for-2 with a a home run, three walks, a stolen base, two total runs and two total RBI in Monday's 8-1 victory over the Phillies.
Torres enjoyed a big night at the plate, as he not only reached base in all five of his plate appearances but also slammed the 100th home run of his big-league career. The long ball came in the third inning and was his second RBI of the contest following a run-scoring single in the first. Torres is off to a nice start to the season, slashing .333/.529/.833 with two homers, four RBI, five runs and three thefts through 15 plate appearances.

Luis Rengifo 3B | MIL
Angels' Luis Rengifo: Added to lineup
Rengifo is hitting eighth and playing shortstop Monday against Seattle, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Rengifo was originally on the bench, but Anthony Rendon will begin serving his four-game suspension Monday and he'll be Rendon's replacement. Gio Urshela moves to third base after originally being listed as the shortstop against George Kirby and the Mariners staff.

David Villar 1B | SF
Giants' David Villar: Homers twice in victory
Villar went 2-for-4 with two homers and five RBI in Monday's 12-3 win over the White Sox.
Villar and the Giants went deep seven times in the blowout win; one short of the team record. One of those blasts was a grand slam in the ninth, and it cemented the rout by making it an 11-3 game. He also hit a solo shot off Michael Kopech which was one of five homers that San Francisco hit off the right-hander. Over four games, Villar now has slashed .286/.333/.714 with the majority of the production coming in Monday's blowout.

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Opening on bench Monday
Rengifo is out of the starting lineup for Monday's game against Seattle.

Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Notches second steal
Torres went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in a 6-0 win versus the Giants on Sunday.
Torres used his wheels to score New York's final run in the seventh inning. He led off the frame with a walk, swiped second as part of a double-steal with Anthony Volpe, advanced to third on a wild pitch, then came home on another wild pitch. The second baseman appears to be taking advantage of the new rules in MLB this season, as he already has two thefts through three games. Torres' career high is 14 steals, which he accomplished in 2021.

Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL
Giants' Thairo Estrada: Exits after fouling ball off leg
Estrada was pulled from Monday's game versus the White Sox after fouling a ball off his left leg, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The Giants were up big at the time, so this could be just them being extra cautious. Estrada had a home run, a stolen base and reached three times before exiting Monday.

Brice Turang 2B | MIL
Brewers' Brice Turang: Swats grand slam in rout
Turang went 2-for-3 with a grand slam, two runs scored and a stolen base in Monday's 10-0 victory over the Mets.
Turang's grand slam in the fifth inning turned a 6-0 cushion into a 10-0 laugher. It's the first homer of the infielder's career, and it came off Tommy Hunter in the blowout victory. Turang has performed well in the first four games of the season for the Brewers, and the hot start gives him a good chance of solidifying himself as the starting second baseman for Milwaukee in the 2023 campaign.

Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Takes seat against lefty
Rojas is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.
The lefty-hitting Rojas will sit for the third time in five games this season, with all of his absences coming against left-handed pitching. Despite his lower usage thus far, Rojas should see the larger share of playing time at third base this season while the righty-hitting Evan Longoria seemingly fills a short-side platoon role.

Whit Merrifield 2B | ATL
Blue Jays' Whit Merrifield: On bench Monday
Merrifield is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
Merrifield will sit for the second time in the Blue Jays' first four games of the season after logging starts at second base and left field on the two occasions he was included in the lineup. The keystone looks to be Merrifield's clearest path to steady playing time, but he'll first have to outperform the likes of Cavan Biggio and Santiago Espinal to secure a larger share of the starts at the position.
