Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus reached base five times Sunday against the Astros.

Andrus collected three hits in the game, all singles. He also walked twice. Andrus came around to score twice, bringing his run scored total to 20. He's hitting .270/.315/.329 in 152 at-bats. 

Astros second basemen Jose Altuve continues to pile up the hits. Altuve, who has hit safely in nine of the past 10 games, entered Saturday's contest against the Rangers with 50 hits this season, which ranks second only behind Miguel Cabrera's 52.

He recorded 35 hits in the month of April -- which was the club record for a second basemen -- and is currently on pace to finish with 200-plus hits.

"I haven't thought about it," Altuve told MLB.com when asked about reaching 200 hits. "I just go day by day and try to get my hits and get on base and score some runs and help the team."

Twelve of Altuve's 50 hits have gone for extra bases and he entered Saturday's tilt hitting .342/.384/.459 with two home runs and 17 RBI over 146 at-bats. 

Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa picked up a hit for the fifth time in six May games Friday, as he continues to try to turn his season around. Espinosa now has five RBI and a .273 batting average in May after he hit just .173 in April.

Epinosa will never been known for his batting average, as he has yet to hit better than .250 in a season. But he is also certainly better than he looked in April, making him a solid buy-low candidate for Fantasy owners.

If you are looking for a potentially cheap source of power from the middle infield position, Fantasy owners can do worse than trying to poach Espinosa from a disgruntled owner. 

White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham hopes to begin his rehab assignment May 20 and rejoin the team in two weeks, the team announced Friday.

Beckham is recovering from surgery on his left hand to remove his hamate bone. He has hit .316/.333/.316 in 21 plate appearances this season.

Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus went 3 for 5 with a run and his seventh stolen base of the season in his team's 4-1 win over the Brewers Wednesday night. It was Andrus' sixth straight game with at least one hit and his first three-hit game since April 2.

Andrus has hit .266/.301/.331 in 149 plate appearances this season.

Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa bumped his May line to .357/.375/.643 with a 2-for-3 performance Wednesday against the Tigers. After finishing April with a .173/.212/.333 line, he owns a .200 batting average for the first time since April 10.

Astros second baseman Jose Altuve homered as part of a 2-for-3 game Tuesday against the Angels.

Altuve scored twice and knocked in two runs. Altuve hit third for the first time this season, a spot that should serve him much better in terms of RBI chances than the leadoff role, where he's been slotted in 22 of 33 games. It will be worth watching if manager Bo Porter sticks with a similar lineup going forward.

Padres infielder Logan Forsythe had the protective boot removed from his foot and is expected to begin jogging Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Forsythe has been sidelined since spring training due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot.

"By next week, you could see him in more baseball-related activities," manager Bud Black said Tuesday.

White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham is hoping to start his minor-league rehab assignment at some point next week, according to MLB.com.

Beckham, who underwent surgery earlier in the month to remove the hamate bone from his left hand, has been sidelined since April 9. He started the season 6 for 19 with an RBI before getting hurt.

Astros second baseman Jose Altuve again led his team in hitting Friday in a 4-3 loss at home to the Tigers. Altuve went 3 for 5, all singles.

He drove in a run in the seventh inning on an infield single that scored Marwin Gonzalez. Altuve has 15 RBI and is hitting .333. 

The 22-year-old has four multi-hit games in his last five and is 9 for 25 (.360) over that span with three RBI and two doubles.
