Albies is headed back to Double-A Mississippi to play second base next to Dansby Swanson, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.

The Braves will finally let their prized middle infield duo of the future play next to each other, but instead of promoting Swanson to Triple-A, they will send Albies back down to a level he recently dominated. Albies had been playing second base recently at Triple-A, and he will stick at the keystone with Mississippi, so that can safely be regarded as his position of the future -- as long as he remains with the Braves. The duo should spend most of 2017 turning double plays at the big league level.

Altuve went 4-for-5 -- one hit shy of a cycle -- with an RBI and four runs Wednesday against the Angels.

Altuve extended his hitting streak to 11 games and his on-base streak to 32 games, collecting four hits and finishing a home run short of the cycle. The second baseman singled in the first inning, tripled in the third and doubled in the fifth. Wednesday marked Altuve's 12th game this season with at least three hits, and it's the second time in a week he finished a hit away from the cycle. He's batting .431 (50-for-116) in the last 29 games.

Romo (thumb) is expected to start a rehab assignment for High-A San Jose this weekend, Alex Pavlovic of the Bay Area CSN reports.

Tomlinson was originally placed on the DL on June 10 due to a sprained left thumb. He began taking ground balls last Friday. The next step in his progression will be a rehab assignment beginning this weekend. Barring any setbacks, he appears on track for a return to the big league in early July.

Hernandez (ribs) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.

The Dodgers officially diagnosed Hernandez with left rib cage inflammation Wednesday, which will put him on the shelf through the All-Star break. His placement on the DL opens a spot on the active roster for Brock Stewart, who will get the start Wednesday against the Brewers. With Hernandez sidelined and Joc Pederson nursing a shoulder injury, the Dodgers will likely lean on an outfield combination of Trayce Thompson, Yasiel Puig, Howie Kendrick, and Scott Van Slyke in the interim.

Merrifield is out of the lineup Wednesday, MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan reports.

It appears to be just a standard day off for Merrifield, who hasn't had a day off in quite a while. Christian Colon will get the start at the keystone and hit seventh Wednesday.

Adames is hitting second and starting at shortstop Wednesday against the Blue Jays, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.

Trevor Story re-injured his finger in Tuesday's game and is out of the lineup Wednesday, so Adames gets the nod. It doesn't sound like Story's injury is too serious, and he will get a chance to get another day of rest with Thursday's off day, so Adames time as a starter could be limited. However, as the No. 2 hitter in Coors Field on Wednesday, he makes for a solid play in daily leagues.

Altuve went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and two stolen bases during Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Angels.

The stolen bases were Altuve's first in three weeks. He's now tied for third in the category behind Jonathan Villar (26 steals) and Rajai Davis (21).

Elmore's contract was selected from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday.

Elmore will make his fifth trip back to the majors now -- each with a different team -- as Alex Presley gets designated for assignment. The 29-year-old has been an on-base machine this season with Milwaukee's Triple-A affiliate, posting a .320 BA and .428 OBP through 57 games. His production in the minors has yet to translate against better competition, however, as he sports a career .215 average in the majors. The first basemen now has another opportunity to prove that he can compete at the highest level.

Motter went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, a walk and three runs in Monday's 13-7 victory over the Red Sox.

Like many of his teammates, the 26-year-old broke out of some offensive doldrums Monday, posting only his third multi-hit effort of June. Motter had been mired in a 1-for-16 slump over the previous six games, and Monday's production served to raise his average a whopping 32 points.

Forsythe is hitting .462 over his last three games after going 3-for-5 with a double, two-run homer, three RBI and three runs in Monday's 13-7 victory over the Red Sox.

The veteran infielder has begun heating up at the plate again, with Monday's effort representing his second multi-hit game over the last three, and seventh overall in the 17 June contests he's participated in. Although he's considerably cooled off from the .341 number his average topped out at on April 30, Forsythe has brought his average up 13 points over the last four games, and the figures that make up his .297/.366/.495 season line are all career bests.
