  • Diamondbacks' Ildemaro Vargas: In walking boot

Vargas (foot) left Rate Field in a walking boot Tuesday and will be placed on the 10-day injured list, MLB.com reports.

Vargas was hit by a pitch on his right foot and suffered a fractured fifth metatarsal. He started at third base in place of the injured Eugenio Suarez (foot) and was replaced by Tim Tawa. The Diamondbacks have not estimated a timeframe for Vargas' return, while Suarez had his hand in a wrap and will undergo an MRI once the swelling subsides, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports.

  • Giants' Christian Koss: Lifts second homer

Koss went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Marlins.

Koss took Miami starter Cal Quantrill deep in the fifth inning to pull the Giants within a run. Koss has started three of the Giants' last five games, all against right-handed pitchers, but it's too soon to tell how the playing time will shake out at second base in the short term after Tyler Fitzgerald was demoted to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday. Koss is in the mix, but the right-handed hitter will be competing with the left-handed-hitting Brett Wisely until Matt Chapman's (hand) return shifts Casey Schmitt over to the keystone. Koss hasn't done much in his first year in the majors, slashing .224/.272/.303 with two homers, 11 RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base over his first 84 plate appearances.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Lone source of offense

Gonzales went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Tuesday against the Brewers.

Gonzales was the lone source of offense for Pittsburgh when he slugged a three-run home run in the sixth inning. After looking rusty in his return from the injured list in early June, he has at least one hit in five of his last six starts while tallying seven RBI with two home runs and four runs scored in that span.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Two homers, including walk-off blast

Moore went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Tuesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Red Sox.

All three of Moore's homers have come over the last five games, and this was also his first multi-hit effort in the majors. He initially tied the game at 1-1 with a solo shot in the eighth inning before adding a walk-off blast in the 10th. The 22-year-old is now batting .194 over 12 games, adding four extra-base hits, six RBI, five runs scored, no stolen bases and a 2:14 BB:K. Moore continues to play regularly at second base as the Angels see what their top hitting prospect can do against major-league pitchers.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

    Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Homers Tuesday

Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the White Sox.

Marte opened up the scoring with a solo blast to right center in the first inning. He now has homered three times over the last five games and has 15 hits in his last 26 at-bats. Marte currently owns a 1.032 OPS, which would sit third in all of baseball among qualified hitters behind Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh.

  • Diamondbacks' Ildemaro Vargas: Suffers foot fracture

Vargas was removed from Tuesday's game against the White Sox with a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

Vargas took a pitch off his foot during the second inning of Tuesday's contest but remained in the game until the fourth. A trip to the injured list is likely in the 33-year-old's future, though there's currently no telling how long he'll be sidelined.

  • Jordan Lawlar SS | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Out at Triple-A with sore hamstring

Lawlar has been absent from Triple-A Reno's lineup for the past three games due to a sore hamstring, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Lawlar has not been placed on the 7-day injured list, so Reno appears to be viewing him as day-to-day at this point. However, the injury could prevent Lawlar from being considered for a promotion in the event Eugenio Suarez's hand injury is worse than expected. Lawlar has gone 0-for-19 at the major-league level this season but boasts a .997 OPS with 10 home runs and 18 steals over 52 games with Reno.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Starting rehab assignment

Massey (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Massey has been shelved for the past two weeks with a sprained left ankle but is ready for game action. The 27-year-old is slashing a lowly .202/.221/.258 this season, and he had seen his playing time wane before getting hurt.

  • Willi Castro LF | COL

Twins' Willi Castro: Sitting again Tuesday

Castro (wrist) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

The veteran super-utility man hasn't seen the field since Saturday due to the wrist injury, which is an issue he initially played through before exiting the lineup. Castro had X-rays come back negative Sunday, though he'll still sit for a third consecutive game Tuesday. Kody Clemens is starting at second base while Harrison Bader handles left field for Minnesota.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Back in action Tuesday

Estrada (hand) will start at second base and bat fifth in Tuesday's game versus the Dodgers.

Estrada missed each of the previous five games with a bruised right hand, but he feels well enough to give it a go in Tuesday's series opener. The veteran infielder is slashing .288/.304/.424 with one home run in his first 16 contests with the Rockies.
