India (hamstring) is starting at second base and batting leadoff against the Mets on Tuesday.

India will return to the lineup after leaving Monday's loss early with a hamstring injury. Since the beginning of August, the second baseman has gone 5-for-26 with a double, two RBI and two runs over seven games.

Rengifo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 1-0 win over Oakland.

There was very little offense in the contest, as the teams combined for seven hits and one run. The only extra-base hit was Rengifo's first-inning, 434-foot solo homer, which stood up as the decisive run. Though the long ball was only his second in 32 games since the start of July, the infielder has been productive over that span, slashing .317/.348/.452 with nine doubles, 10 runs, 13 RBI and four stolen bases.

Stott is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the Marlins.

Stott will sit for the first time since July 29, having gone 9-for-32 with a double, a triple, six RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base over his last eight straight starts. Edmundo Sosa will take over at shortstop and bat eighth against Miami.

Marte went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Monday's 3-0 win over the Pirates.

Marte helped give Diamondbacks closer Ian Kennedy some added cushion with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, when he poked a base hit past a diving Oneil Cruz to plate two runs. Though he often occupies a spot in the heart of the order for Arizona, Marte now has just three multi-RBI games since the beginning of July, and his production in other categories has been rather empty as well. Over the past five weeks, he's managed only six home runs, zero stolen bases and 18 runs while batting .252 over a 31-game stretch.

Biggio went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Orioles.

Getting the start at second base and batting ninth, the 27-year-old launched his first homer since late June and only his third of the season in 198 plate appearances. Biggio is getting more consistent playing time while George Springer (elbow) is on the shelf and Whit Merrifield is needed in center field, and he's responded by going 4-for-13 (.308) with a double and a home run over the last five games.

The team will likely re-evaluate the infielder Tuesday morning to determine his status moving forward, but it's a good sign that India feels like he won't miss any additional time.

India dealt with an injury to his right hamstring earlier in the season, and he ended up missing nearly two months while on the mend, per Goldsmith. However, the severity of the current injury is not yet clear.

Vargas was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Vargas appeared in two games since being recalled Aug. 2, collecting two hits (one double) and two RBI in eight at-bats while also swiping a bag. The Dodgers have yet to announce a corresponding move, but per Ardaya, the club may be preparing to activate Justin Turner (abdomen) from the 10-day injured list.

Arauz (finger) said Monday that he expects to be sidelined at least another two weeks prior to beginning a rehab assignment, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Arauz haș been unavailable since late July due to a fractured finger, but he reiterated Monday that he doesn't expect to require surgery. He hopes he'll be able to swing a bat and throw this week, but it seems unlikely that he'll be cleared to rejoin the Orioles until sometime in late August.

Espinal is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Baltimore.

Espinal will sit out for the third time in five games while he continues to work in a timeshare at the keystone with Cavan Biggio, who is batting ninth Monday. The two may continue to split work at the position until George Springer (elbow) is activated from the 10-day injured list, at which point Whit Merrifield -- who is filling in as the Jays' primary center fielder -- will likely move back to second base.
