  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Getting a breather

Marte is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Rockies.

It appears to be a routine day off, which would be Marte's first since Aug. 17. Geraldo Perdomo will slide over to second base while Nick Ahmed gets a start at shortstop Monday.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Approaching rehab assignment

Reds manager David Bell said Sunday that India (foot) could begin a rehab assignment within the next week, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

India, who has been on the 10-day injured list since July 30 with left foot plantar fasciitis, began a running progression Monday at the Reds' complex in Arizona and looks to be making good progress in his recovery. Bell suggested that India would likely need at least three rehab games before being activated from the IL, so the 26-year-old probably won't be ready to return to the Cincinnati lineup until early next week at the soonest.

  • Liover Peguero SS | PIT

Pirates' Liover Peguero: Running hot at plate

Peguero went 2-for-5 with a pair of base hits in Saturday's 7-6 win over the Cardinals.

Peguero turned in his third multi-hit effort in four games and appears to have bounced back nicely from a recent three-game stretch in which he went 0-for-9 with a walk and six strikeouts. He'll stick in the starting nine for Sunday's series finale, manning shortstop and batting sixth.

  • Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | NYM

Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Takes seat versus lefty

Bae is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Bae will be one of several left-handed hitting Pirates who will hit the bench Sunday while the Cardinals bring southpaw Zack Thompson to the hill. With Bae sitting out, Vinny Capra will draw a start at second base and Jack Suwinski will man center field.

  • Ronny Mauricio 2B | NYM

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Goes 2-for-4, swipes bag

Mauricio went 2-for-4 with his first career stolen base in Saturday's loss to the Mariners.

Mauricio followed up his impressive MLB debut with his second consecutive two-hit performance and stole a base while operating out of the nine-hole. The 22-year-old switch-hitting infielder showcased an impressive combination of power and speed in the minors, posting at least 20 home runs and 20 steals in each of the last two seasons. Mauricio is expected to be the Mets' primary second baseman down the stretch.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Marlins' Luis Arraez: Records four hits in win

Arraez went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's win over Washington.

Arraez singled in the top of the second to drive home Xavier Edwards and tacked on an insurance run in the seventh with another RBI single. The second baseman reached base four times on the afternoon and has now recorded multiple hits in three straight games. He's also hit safely in six straight and in 10 of his last 11.

  • Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | NYM

Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Locked into consistent role

Bae went 1-for-5 with a stolen base Friday against the Cardinals.

Bae has started all seven games against right-handed pitching since he returned from the injured list Aug. 18, and he's also started four of seven contests against southpaws. In that span, he's gone 10-for-41 with four RBI and five runs to go along with a pair of stolen bases. While unremarkable production, the Pirates appear invested in getting Bae regular at-bats, to the detriment of Liover Peguero.

  • Ronny Mauricio 2B | NYM

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Sets Statcast record in debut

Mauricio went 2-for-3 with a double in Friday's 2-1 win over the Mariners.

Getting the start at second base and batting ninth in his big-league debut, Mauricio ripped a double off Logan Gilbert to lead off the bottom of the third inning that left his bat at 117.3 mph -- the fastest exit velocity recorded during the Statcast era on a player's first career hit, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Mauricio earned his promotion by slashing .288/.357/.558 for Triple-A Syracuse in August with seven homers and eight steals in 24 games, and the 22-year-old figures to get a long look in September as Francisco Lindor's potential long-term double-play partner.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Rejoins big club

Edwards went 0-for-1 with a run scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Nationals after being recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville prior to the game.

Edwards and right-handed reliever Geoff Hartlieb joined the Marlins on Friday as the team's two September call-ups with the active roster expanding from 26 to 28 players. With the 68-67 Marlins still in the thick of the National League wild-card race, Edwards may not get the immediate opportunity to play regularly, unless the Marlins elect to call an end to the unproductive platoon of Joey Wendle and Jon Berti at shortstop.

  • Kolten Wong 2B | BAL

Dodgers' Kolten Wong: Homers in first game with new team

Wong hit a three-run home run as a pinch hitter in Friday's 6-3 loss to Atlanta.

The second baseman pinch hit for Freddie Freeman in the eighth inning, and Wong got his Dodgers career started with a bang. Prior to signing a minor-league deal in August, Wong mustered an abysmal .468 OPS with the Mariners over 67 games. With Los Angeles, he figures to be little more than a part-time player, though his solid defensive reputation may lead to him coming off the bench as a late-game replacement more often than not.
