Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Back in lineup Wednesday

Torres (wrist/ankle) is starting Wednesday's game against Oakland.

Torres was targeting a Thursday return to the lineup, but he'll ultimately start at second base and bat fifth in Wednesday's matchup. The 25-year-old left Sunday's game against Houston due to a mild ankle sprain, but his absence over the last few days was mainly due to a sore wrist that he's been dealing with for several weeks. However, he received a cortisone shot Monday and is now back to good health.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Homers in four-RBI night

Semien went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double, a sacrifice fly and two additional runs in an 8-3 win over the Royals on Tuesday.

Semien had an excellent night at the plate and came just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. His home run in the third inning off Jonathan Heasley pushed his total to eight, while the four runs he pushed across increased his RBI total to 32. Semien got off to a miserable start in his new Texas home this season, but he has put together a solid month of June that's included six home runs, a .270 average and six stolen bases. The proven veteran hitter appears to be finding a groove and could make a solid impact moving forward in line with his performances of years past.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Twins' Jorge Polanco: Belts eighth homer in return

Polanco went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in a 6-0 win over the Guardians during the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Activated off the injured list following Tuesday's matinee, Polanco looked to be completely over his back woes in his first action since June 12. The 28-year-old connected on his eighth homer of the year, a two-run blast off Konnor Pilkington in the third inning that gave the Twins a 3-0 lead. Polanco had a .325/.413/.525 slash line through 11 games in June prior to landing on the IL.

  • Jonathan Arauz 3B | LAD

Orioles' Jonathan Arauz: On bench Tuesday

Arauz is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The lefty-hitting Arauz started at third base in each of the Orioles' last three games, going 3-for-12 with a home run, two RBI and an additional run. He'll take a seat Tuesday with southpaw Robbie Ray on the mound for Seattle, but Arauz looks as though he could occupy the large side of a platoon with Tyler Nevin at the hot corner until Ramon Urias (oblique) comes back from the injured list.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Facing live pitching again

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Tuesday that Lowe (back) has resumed taking batting practice and is pain-free, but the 27-year-old is still going to need "some time" before he comes off the 10-day injured list, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe has been on the 10-day injured list since May 16 with a stress reaction in his lower back, and though he remains without a definitive target date for his return, the Rays' reluctance to move him to the 60-day IL suggests the expectation is that he'll be activated before mid-July. A clearer timeline could come into focus as Lowe ramps up his workouts and the Rays begin mapping out a rehab assignment for him.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: On bench Tuesday

Biggio is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Biggio went 3-for-11 with a home run, a double, three walks, two runs and two RBI while starting in each of the past four games, but he'll cede his spot in the lineup to Raimel Tapia on Tuesday. Until catcher Danny Jansen (finger) returns from the 10-day injured list, Biggio looks like he'll have an edge on Tapia and Gabriel Moreno for the final opening in Toronto's everyday lineup.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

Guardians' Owen Miller: Sits for night game

Miller is out of the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Twins.

Miller made his fourth straight start in the Guardians' 3-2 win in the early game, going hitless across his three plate appearances. Josh Naylor will replace Miller at first base in the nightcap.

  • Tony Kemp 2B | MIN

Athletics' Tony Kemp: Sits against southpaw

Kemp is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

With lefty JP Sears taking the hill for New York, the lefty-hitting Kemp will take a seat as Oakland stocks up on extra right-handed bats. Chad Pinder will replace Kemp in left field, while second baseman Nick Allen takes over as Oakland's leadoff hitter.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Twins' Jorge Polanco: Activated for Game 2

Polanco (back) was activated off the 10-day injured list and will enter the starting lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Guardians, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. He'll man second base and hit fifth.

He was placed on the IL on June 17 with lower-back tightness and never ended up needing a rehab assignment. Polanco should resume a regular role going forward, hitting in the middle of the Twins' lineup. Prior to going on the shelf, Polanco was hitting .325/.413/.525 with two home runs and one steal in 40 June at-bats.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Targeting Thursday return

Torres (wrist/ankle) said he expects to return to the Yankees lineup for Thursday's game in Houston, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Torres' departure from his last start Sunday against the Astros was attributed to a mild ankle sprain, but it's an inflamed right wrist that's the greater concern for the infielder at this time. The 25-year-old acknowledged that he's been dealing with a sore wrist for about three weeks, but fortunately, the cortisone shot he received Monday to address the injury already seems to have yielded favorable results. Torres said he'll play catch and perhaps pick up a bat Tuesday, though he'll be out of the lineup against the Athletics for the second day in a row. He's hopeful to play in Wednesday's series finale, but due to the quick turnaround for that game, Thursday's matchup with the Astros looks like a more realistic target for his return.
