  • Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Not starting Friday

Arroyo (hamstring) isn't in Boston's lineup Friday against the Guardians, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Arroyo didn't start Wednesday against Baltimore either, but he was able to enter the game as a pinch hitter and stay in at second base. He'll get another day to nurse his sore right hamstring while Enmanuel Valdez starts at second base and bats ninth.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC

    Royals' Nicky Lopez: Sitting Friday

Lopez is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Twins, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Lopez will take a seat after he went 3-for-10 with an RBI and two strikeouts over the last three contests. Hunter Dozier will draw the start at third base and bat eighth against Minnesota.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Clobbers fourth homer of season

Torres went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's victory over the Rangers.

Torres immediately followed DJ LeMahieu's homer with a long ball of his own, smacking one well over the center field wall. The second baseman is now on a five-game hit streak, and he is slashing .265/.386/.470 to start off the year.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Breaks slump in blowout victory

Lowe went 3-for-4 with one triple, one home run, three RBI and three runs scored in Thursday's 14-5 win over the White Sox.

This breakout game was a welcome sight for fantasy managers, as Lowe had gone hitless in his previous five games. The infielder was instrumental in the blowout victory, finishing a double away from the cycle. The 28-year-old is now slashing .257/.368/.581 with seven homers and 18 RBI so far this year.

  • Angels' Brandon Drury: Goes deep again Thursday

Drury went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run and two walks in an 8-7 win against Oakland on Thursday.

Drury had the biggest hit in a five-run third inning for the Angels, belting a 409-foot homer that plated three runs. The veteran infielder reached base four times in the contest and finished with his fourth straight multi-hit performance. The Oakland pitching staff may have nightmares about Drury in the days to come, as he tormented them in the four-game series, going 9-for-15 with four homers and 12 RBI.

  • Joseph Ortiz 2B | MIL

Orioles' Joey Ortiz: Drives in three in debut

Ortiz went 1-for-3 with three RBI in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Tigers.

Ortiz plated the Orioles' first three runs in the contest. He had a two-run single in the fifth inning and a sacrifice fly in the seventh. It's a solid debut for the 24-year-old infielder. If he can play well, he could have a path to playing time at second base over Adam Frazier, who moved to right field to accommodate Ortiz's debut. Ortiz could also be an option at shortstop or third base, but Jorge Mateo and Ramon Urias have played well at those positions to begin the campaign.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Orioles' Adam Frazier: Nabs steal, scores twice

Frazier went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Tigers.

With prospect Joey Ortiz called up and starting at second base, Frazier moved to right field for Thursday's game. That's an arrangement that could happen more, though a lot depends on how Ortiz adjusts to the major-league level. Frazier hasn't done much with the bat lately -- he hasn't record a multi-hit effort since April 2. He's slashing just .213/.298/.333 with two home runs, nine RBI, four steals and 15 runs scored through 25 contests.

  • Joseph Ortiz 2B | MIL

Orioles' Joey Ortiz: Batting ninth in debut

Ortiz is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Orioles on Thursday versus the Tigers in his major-league debut.

Ortiz was recalled earlier Thursday and will be thrown right into the mix. The 24-year-old could see a little action at multiple infield spots for the Orioles but wouldn't seem to be in line for everyday playing time.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Mariners' Jose Caballero: Handling second base

Caballero is starting at second base and batting eighth for the Mariners on Thursday against the Phillies, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

The 26-year-old has been serving on the short side of a platoon at second base with Kolten Wong of late. Caballero will go up against left-hander Matt Strahm in the series finale at Philadelphia.

  • Joseph Ortiz 2B | MIL

Orioles' Joey Ortiz: Summoned to majors

Ortiz was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk by the Orioles on Thursday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Ortiz finished strong at Norfolk last season, and it has carried over into 2023 with a .359/.389/.500 slash line. The 24-year-old is a strong defender and has experience at all infield positions other than first base. While a good prospect, Ortiz might not play enough to provide much fantasy value in his first taste of the big leagues.
