  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Knocks 10th homer

Abreu went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Monday's 6-3 extra-inning loss to the Twins.

Abreu entered Monday with no homers since June 13. He changed that in his first at-bat by taking Dylan Bundy deep in the second inning. While he hasn't displayed over-the-fence power lately, Abreu hit .366 with seven doubles and seven multi-hit efforts during his homer drought. The first baseman is slashing .290/.380/.462 with 10 homers, 37 RBI, 46 runs scored and 20 doubles through 76 contests.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Could return later this week

France (elbow) could return to action later this week, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.

France was not activated from the injured list Monday when first eligible, but he may not be sidelined much longer, as manager Scott Servais indicated he could return at some point during Seattle's upcoming four-game series against Toronto, which runs from Thursday through Sunday.

  • Gabriel Arias 3B | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Goes back to minors

Arias was optioned to Triple-A Columbus after Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the Tigers, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Arias started at third base in the first game of Monday's twin bill, but he was back to Columbus between contests. He is one of Cleveland's top prospects, so he should have a chance to rejoin the big club later in the season.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Not starting nightcap

Naylor (back) is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Naylor left Monday's opener with back spasms, so it should not come as much of a surprise that he is opening the nightcap on the bench. Owen Miller will start at first base in Naylor's place.

  • LaMonte Wade LF | HOU

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Will start Monday

Wade (elbow) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Wade sat Sunday with a sore elbow, but that will be the extent of his absence. He will man right field and hit fifth against Diamondbacks southpaw Madison Bumgarner.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Exits with back spasms

Naylor was removed from Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the Tigers with back spasms, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Naylor remained in the game briefly after showing signs of pain in a seventh-inning at-bat, but he was removed from the contest after drawing a walk on the next pitch. Naylor has not been ruled out for Game 2, but it seems more likely than not that he will remain on the bench.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Takes seat Monday

Tellez is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

Tellez went 0-for-9 over his last two games and the Brewers will be facing a southpaw Monday, so manager Craig Counsell decided to give Tellez a day off. Victor Caratini will man first base in Tellez's place.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Not starting in matinee

Torkelson isn't starting the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Guardians.

Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's loss to Kansas City, but he'll be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Kody Clemens is taking over at first base and batting seventh.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Rangers' Kole Calhoun: Not starting Monday

Calhoun isn't starting Monday against the Orioles.

Calhoun is getting a day off after he went 2-for-16 with two homers, four RBI and nine strikeouts over the last four games. Steven Duggar will take over in left field and bat seventh.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Retreats to bench

Cooper isn't in the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals, Joe Frisaro of ManOnSecondBaseball.com reports.

Cooper snapped a five-game hitting streak Sunday when he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, and he'll get a breather a day later. Jacob Stallings is serving as the designated hitter while Nick Fortes takes over behind the plate.
