  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: Crushes seventh homer

Hiura went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs in Friday's victory over the Pirates.

Something about Pirates pitching particularly appeals to Hiura, who has hit 43 home runs in his career and 12 against Pittsburgh. Hiura has filled a part-time role all season and started just seven times over the Brewers' last 23 games, but he has gotten the job done when called upon, posting a .756 OPS over 124 plate appearances.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Records seventh home run

Gurriel went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and two runs scored Friday against the Angels.

Gurriel led off the second inning with his seventh home run of the season, and he came around to score one frame later after earning a one-out walk. He still owns a subpar .227/.280/.396 line for the season, but Gurriel has hit .333 with a pair of long balls, four RBI and five runs scored across his last eight games.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Not in lineup for matinee

Rizzo isn't starting the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Cleveland.

Rizzo went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and a strikeout in Thursday's loss to Houston, but he'll take a seat for the second time in the last three games. Aaron Judge is serving as the designated hitter while Matt Carpenter starts at first base.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Three hits in win

Cooper went 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in Friday's 6-3 win over the Nationals.

The 31-year-old has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games, slashing .339/.375/.458 over that stretch with four doubles, a homer, three runs and nine RBI. Cooper has no speed and only modest power, but his ability to make consistent contact and get on base gives him value in most fantasy formats.

  • Nate Lowe DH | CIN

Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Homers in loss

Lowe went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Mets.

Lowe swatted his 11th homer in 70 games, which puts him on a pace to surpass the 18 he hit over 157 games in 2021. The increased power is no fluke. Lowe's launch angle increased from 5.0 to 8.8 from last season to 2022, while the first baseman is hitting more line drives (30%, up from 21%) and fewer groundballs (46%, down from 55%). Lowe's coming off a banner June, during which he posted a slash of .307/.346/.564 with seven home runs, 16 RBI and 14 runs scored.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Drives in five runs

Tellez went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, five RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 19-2 win against Pittsburgh.

Tellez hammered a three-run homer off of Roansy Contreras as part of Milwaukee's seven-run second inning. He then brought in two more runs with his fourth-inning double. After a 20-game homerless drought, the 27-year-old has gone deep six times over his last nine appearances. Tellez improved his slash line to .247/.319/.498 with 16 home runs and 53 RBI through 74 games.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Homers for first MLB hit

Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Tigers.

Pasquantino ripped a line-drive homer off Michael Pineda in the fourth inning for his first big-league hit. He's now 1-for-9 with two walks to begin his MLB career but he's yet to strike out. The highly touted prospect smacked 18 long balls while registering a .948 OPS with Triple-A Omaha prior to joining Kansas City.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Exits after pitch hits head

Torkelson left Friday's game against the Royals after getting hit in the head by a pitch, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

The pitch appeared to catch the ear flap on Torkelson's helmet, Woodbery reports, preventing further damage. The rookie first baseman appears to have avoided a concussion but is expected to head to the bench Saturday.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Batting cleanup against Detroit

Pasquantino will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup against the Tigers on Friday, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Dave Holtzman of Bally Sports Kansas City notes that Pasquantino will become the first Royals player to bat cleanup within his first three starts since Joe Vitiello in 1995. Pasquantino is hitless through his first two big-league games (0-for-5), but he showed off his eye at the plate and patience with a couple walks Wednesday. He slugged .576 with Triple-A Omaha prior to his call-up.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Swats homer Thursday

Rizzo went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's loss to Houston.

The Yankees were mostly stifled by Astros pitching in the loss, but Rizzo ensured that they didn't get shut out with his solo blast off Luis Garcia in the sixth inning. The long ball was just his second hit over his past 27 at-bats, though both of those knocks have left the yard. Rizzo finished June with a .234/.357/.553 slash line along with 10 homers, 22 RBI and three stolen bases over 27 contests.
