  • Nate Lowe 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Nathaniel Lowe: Headed to Boston

Lowe and the Red Sox agreed to a one-year contract Sunday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Lowe was granted his release from the Nationals on Saturday and has quicly found a new home in Boston. The 30-year-old had slashed .216/.292/.373 slash line with 16 home runs and one stolen base over 119 contests with Washington, where he had been handling an everyday role at first base. The Red Sox have struggled to find a consistent option at first base this season, and the left-handed-hitting Lowe could occupy the strong side of a platoon at the position with the right-handed-hitting Romy Gonzalez. Lowe owns a .732 OPS over 337 plate appearances versus right-handed pitching this season.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Smacks 21st homer

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 10-4 loss to Texas.

Sunday's contest marked his first multi-hit performance since July 2, a stretch in which he went 15-for-88 (.170) with a homer, two doubles and two triples. Wagaman has been in the starting nine in two of Miami's last five games, as Troy Johnston and Liam Hicks have been seeing some work at first base.

  • Luis Arraez 1B | SD

Padres' Luis Arraez: Three hits, two steals in loss

Arraez went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two stolen bases in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.

The first baseman is at a .298/.369/.481 slash line with 15 homers, 69 RBI, 59 runs scored, 29 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases over 111 contests.

Rangers' Jake Burger: Heading for imaging

Manager Bruce Bochy said that Burger won't be available for at least a couple of days while he heads back to Texas to receive medical imaging on his left wrist, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Burger exited Sunday's 10-4 win over the Blue Jays due to left wrist discomfort, and there's enough concern about his injury for him to leave the team for a more thorough evaluation. The 29-year-old will miss at least the first couple games of the Rangers' upcoming series in Kansas City while the specifics of the injury are determined.

  • Jake Burger 3B | TEX

Rangers' Jake Burger: Managing wrist issue

Burger was removed from Sunday's game against the Royals due to left wrist discomfort, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Burger went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored before being replaced by a pinch hitter during the seventh inning. The severity of the injury remains unclear, so the first baseman should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener in Kansas City.

  • Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Remaining out of lineup

Contreras (foot) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Alec Burleson will cover first base while Contreras receives another day off to recover from a bruised right foot. The 33-year-old will be re-evaluated Monday before a decision is made on whether he's ready to rejoin the lineup.

Mountcastle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Mountcastle started all eight games since coming off the injured list last week and has slugged two home runs and has posted a .851 OPS, but he'll take a seat for the series finale in Houston. Coby Mayo will continue to man first base for Baltimore, while top prospect Samuel Basallo is making his MLB debut at designated hitter.

  • Astros' Christian Walker: Taking seat Sunday

Walker is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

It's a rare off day for Walker, who started the previous 30 games after spending a few days on the paternity list in early July. The first baseman is batting just .216 (11-for-51) in August but has four doubles, three homers and a 9:14 BB:K.
