Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: May still need DL stint
Cabrera (thumb) may still end up going on the DL despite the fact that an MRI showed no structural damage, Seth Walder of the New York Daily News reports. "He's still got a pretty jammed up thumb," Mets manager Terry Collins said Sunday. "He was pretty sore still today."
The 31-year-old is already playing through some lingering lower-body issues, so while the thumb injury might not have shelved him for long on its own, the Mets may use it as an excuse to have him sit while he tries to get completely healthy. Jose Reyes will continue playing shortstop in Cabrera's absence.

Carlos Santana 1B | ATL
Indians' Carlos Santana: Drives in only run of Sunday's game
Santana went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI during Sunday's 1-0 win over Kansas City.
The RBI was the 18th of the season for Santana, which is an impressive total for a leadoff man. However, his three home runs and .234/.326/.379 slash line are disappointing. After hitting 34 home runs last season to complement his .864 OPS, Santana will need to string together a hot streak in order to approach those numbers. This was his second consecutive multi-hit game after hitting a ninth-inning home run Saturday, though, so perhaps the heater is just beginning.

C.J. Cron 1B | BOS
Angels' C.J. Cron: Dealing with wrist injury
Cron (foot) is day-to-day with a right wrist injury after being hit by a pitch at Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Cron is down with the Bees on a rehab stint for a foot contusion suffered on April 28. The X-rays came back negative on his wrist Sunday, so his day-to-day status bodes well for his chances of getting back to the big club in the next few days as originally planned.

Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: MRI reveals no serious damage
Cabrera underwent an MRI that revealed no structural damage to his left thumb, MLB.com's Anthony DiComo reports.
Cabrera had been dealing with hamstring stiffness but was pulled from Saturday's contest for a completely unrelated thumb ailment. Fortunately, the Mets don't believe the injury will be a long-term concern. He'll take a seat Sunday for precautionary reasons, however, giving way to Jose Reyes at shortstop while Wilmer Flores mans third base.

Justin Bour 1B | SF
Marlins' Justin Bour: Out of lineup Sunday
Bour is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Bour has scuffled at the plate to begin the 2017 season, hitting just .228 over his first 101 at-bats. The 28-year-old will get the day off Sunday with hopes of coming back refreshed on Monday. Derek Dietrich will take over at first base in his absence.

Jose Abreu 1B | HOU
White Sox's Jose Abreu: Slams fifth homer of 2017 on Saturday
Abreu went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Saturday's loss to the Orioles.
Abreu blasted his fifth homer of the year to draw the White Sox within one run in a losing effort. He's clubbed all five of his homers over the last eight games, and he's slashing .294/.342/.514, which is pretty close to what fantasy owners expected when drafting him.

Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: Removed following thumb injury
Cabrera left Saturday's game with a left thumb injury, Anthony Rieber of Newsday reports.
It's unclear how Cabrera incurred the injury, but the initial X-rays taken showed no fractures, so the situation seems to be minor as of now. An MRI is on tap for Sunday, however, so his status moving forward will likely become more clear following that test. Consider him day-to-day for the time being,

Carlos Santana 1B | ATL
Indians' Carlos Santana: Crushes third homer of season Saturday
Santana went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in Saturday's victory over the Royals.
Santana's third home run of the season broke up a 1-1 tie in the ninth inning, leading the Tribe to a road victory. He's gotten off to a slow start, and he'll really need to pick up the pace if he's to come anywhere near matching his big numbers of 2016. It might be a wise move to keep him on your bench - if you have the luxury - until he heats up.

C.J. Cron 1B | BOS
Angels' C.J. Cron: Rehab assignment set
Cron (foot) is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Barring any setbacks during the rehab games, Cron is expected to rejoin the Angels shortly after he's eligible to return from the disabled list May 9. With Luis Valbuena also back from injury, it remains unclear what kind of playing time Cron will see at first base upon activation.

Asdrubal Cabrera 1B | CIN
Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: Back in action Saturday
Cabrera (hamstring) is back in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.
Manager Terry Collins gave Cabrera as maintenance day Friday as the 31-year-old shortstop continues to battle lingering stiffness in his hamstring and knee. While Cabrera is penciled in to play Saturday, these are issues he and the team may have to continue to manage for the foreseeable future.
