Spencer Horwitz 1B | PIT
Pirates' Spencer Horwitz: Nearing rehab assignment
Horwitz (wrist) is likely to head to the Pirates' complex in Florida to begin a rehab assignment in the near future, MLB.com reports.
Horwitz has been cleared for all baseball activity and has been taking batting practice for the last several days. He'll likely still require some time to get in a rhythm after missing all of spring training, meaning a return in early May could be realistic.

Jake Burger 3B | TEX
Rangers' Jake Burger: Hits in five straight
Burger went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Angels.
Burger returned to the lineup after missing one game due to an illness and recorded his first multi-hit game of the season. A slow start has given way to hot stretch for the first baseman. Burger, who batted .105 over his first 11 games, has now hit safely in five straight, going 7-for-19 with a double, two RBI and a run scored.

Michael Toglia 1B | COL
Rockies' Michael Toglia: Snaps homer drought with grand slam
Toglia went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Toglia showed promising power with 25 home runs over 116 games last season, but he came into Wednesday with no long balls and 29 strikeouts over 63 plate appearances this year. He couldn't cure his punchout woes Wednesday -- Toglia struck out three more times -- but he did get off the schneid in terms of power, slugging a grand slam off Bobby Miller in the third inning. Toglia's strikeout rate and .172 batting average remain problematic, but the Rockies have so far remained committed to him, putting him in the lineup at first base on a near-everyday basis.

Freddie Freeman 1B | LAD
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Swats third homer
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk against the Rockies on Wednesday in an 8-7 victory.
Freeman contributed to a seven-run Los Angeles first inning with a solo shot to right-center field. The star first baseman added a single later in the game to collect his third consecutive multi-hit performance. After a relatively slow start to the season, Freeman's hot three-game stretch has boosted his season batting average from .211 to .333, though he's played in only nine contests so far due to a nagging ankle injury.

Bryce Harper DH | PHI
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Blasts fourth long ball
Harper went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and two walks in Wednesday's loss to the Giants.
Harper took a laboring Robbie Ray yard in the fourth inning to tie the game up at 4-4, powering a slider out of the strike zone and into the seats in right field. Through 81 plate appearances (18 games), Harper is slashing a healthy .269/.395/.478 with four big flies, two doubles, nine RBI and 11 runs scored. After stealing just seven bases in 145 regular-season games a year ago, the All-Star first baseman is already up to four steals early in 2025.

Matt Mervis 1B | MIA
Marlins' Matt Mervis: Belts another home run
Mervis went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Mervis tied the game up at 1-1 in the fourth inning, when he took Brandon Pfaadt deep to right-center field for a 396-foot solo homer. Mervis has logged four home runs over his last five games, and his six long balls this year is tied for fourth-most in the majors.

Josh Naylor 1B | SEA
Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Cracks solo shot against Miami
Naylor went 1-for-3 with one walk, a solo homer and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Marlins.
Naylor got the Diamondbacks on the board in the second inning, when he took Max Meyer deep to center field for a 398-foot solo homer. Naylor has logged solo home runs in back-to-back games and has three long shots and six RBI over his last six outings.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand 1B | CIN
Reds' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: Drives in two runs Wednesday
Encarnacion-Strand went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Mariners.
Encarnacion-Strand had gone 0-for-12 over his previous three games, but he managed to get the Reds on the board in the seventh inning Wednesday with a two-RBI double. He is working his way back from hamstring and back soreness, which caused him to miss two games earlier in the week. Encarnacion-Strand has begun the season slashing .158/.183/.298 with four runs scored, two home runs and five RBI across 60 plate appearances this season.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Opens homer account for 2025
Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's 3-1 win over Atlanta.
The first baseman struck out against Spencer Strider in the first inning, but Guerrero was perfect the rest of the day and got his revenge on the right-hander with a no-doubt solo shot in the sixth inning that traveled 412 feet to left field. It was Guerrero's first homer of 2025, but he's been productive with a .292/.373/.389 slash line, seven runs and 10 RBI in 19 games.

Spencer Torkelson 1B | DET
Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Goes deep in loss
Torkelson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Brewers.
As was the case Sunday when the Tigers fell 5-1 to the Twins, Torkelson provided all of the team's offense with a solo shot. The slugger is now up to six home runs through 18 games, and if he keeps up this level of production and stays relatively healthy, Torkelson has a good shot to surpass the career high of 31 long balls he posted back in 2023.
