Voit will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis prior to Friday's series opener against the Cubs, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Jose Martinez will be away from the team attending the birth of his child, so Voit will join the Cardinals to offer additional depth at first base in his absence. The 27-year-old is 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk and three RBI in five appearances for the big club this year. Seeing as Martinez is expected to rejoin the Cardinals early next week, Voit's time in the majors will likely be short lived.

Calhoun (oblique) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group reports.

Calhoun appears to be closing in on a return to the big leagues after resuming baseball activities this past weekend. It's expected that the outfielder will require multiple games at the Triple-A level to prepare for a return to the majors.

Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with two walks and two runs Tuesday in the Diamondbacks' 13-8 win over the Pirates.

With six multi-hit outings in his past seven starts, Goldschmidt's batting average has climbed 48 points to a palatable .258. That's still well below his marks from each of the past six seasons, but the recent form he has shown at the plate offers optimism that more positive regression in the category could be coming for the first baseman. With several of the Arizona bats around him in the order also heating up, Goldschmidt has also collected 11 RBI and has scored 11 times over that seven-game stretch.

Freeman went 1-for-2 with two walks, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's win over the Mets.

The 28-year-old just won't slow down at the plate. Since the beginning of May, Freeman's put together a .360/.433/.593 slash line, and four of his 13 homers on the year have come in the last six games.

Cabrera is out of the lineup against Atlanta on Wednesday.

Cabrera will retreat to the bench after going 0-for-4 during Tuesday's loss. In his place, Luis Guillorme will bat eighth and man the keystone.

Bell went 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in Tuesday's 13-8 loss to the Diamondbacks.

There was plenty of offense to go around in this one, and Bell got in on the action with his third three-hit day of the season. The 25-year-old has been an on-base machine since sliding down in the order, reaching base safely in 11 of 16 plate appearances in that four-game span. It's possible he'll move back up to cleanup at some point, but manager Clint Hurdle may be hesitant to tinker with Bell's new spot if it seems to be working.

Votto went 1-for-4 with a run, a walk and a three-run triple in Tuesday's extra-inning win over the Royals.

Votto broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the 10th with a three-run triple -- his second three-bagger of the year -- off reliever Kevin McCarthy. Votto is now hitting .309 with 30 RBI and 34 runs scored. While his power numbers are down so far, he's carrying the third-best on-base percentage (.433) in the majors, trailing only Mike Trout (.435) and Freddie Freeman (.434).

Flores (back) began his rehab assignment with High-A St. Lucie on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The Mets expect Flores to return from lower-back soreness at some point during their road trip, which runs from June 12-21. The infielder is hitting .248/.320/.398 on the season, good for an exactly average 100 wRC+.

Smith was called up as expected Tuesday and will bat seventh against the Braves, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic New York reports.

The Mets finally removed the obstacle in front of Smith, releasing Adrian Gonzalez on Sunday. Smith didn't do a whole lot in the minors to suggest he'll be a great fantasy option, though, hitting an uninspiring .260/.343/.370 despite playing in a hitter's paradise at Triple-A Las Vegas. The job may not his for long, as Peter Alonso is crushing the ball to the tune of a .310/.441/.567 line for Double-A Binghamton.

General manager Sandy Alderson said Cabrera (hamstring) is "ready to go" and will be in the lineup Tuesday against the Braves, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera exited Sunday's game with hamstring tightness, but he won't be forced to miss any additional action due to the injury thanks to a well-placed off day Monday. The second baseman, who is hitting a healthy .283/.323/.498 with 11 homers and 36 RBI through 61 games this season, will face right-hander Mike Foltynewicz in Tuesday's series opener.
