Cron was placed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left knee Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Cron left Monday's game against the White Sox with the injury, and it's evidently severe enough for him to be forced to sit for at least 10 days. His expected return date has not yet been announced. The cleanup hitter's absence will be a blow to a surprisingly competitive Tigers team, as he owned a strong .894 OPS despite a low .190 batting average. Willi Castro was recalled in a corresponding move.

Walker went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 12-8 win over Colorado.

Walker's first-inning double snapped an 0-for-10 skid and knocked in the first of two runs he delivered. Prior to that hitless run, Walker had been a consistent producer for a Diamondbacks' offense that has been slow to start. He leads Arizona with eight doubles and has 10 RBI through 16 games.

Calhoun went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 12-8 win over the Rockies.

Calhoun's lead-off shot set the tone for the game's nonstop offense, but it was surprisingly the only Diamondbacks' long ball of the night. The 32-year-old outfielder is up to eight extra-base hits and 11 RBI on the season.

Cabrera went 4-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, two home runs, three runs scored and five RBI in Monday's 16-4 rout of the Mets.

Both long balls came off southpaws -- Steven Matz in the second inning and Chasen Shreve in the seventh. Cabrera has picked up right where he left off after being acquired by the Nats at the end of 2019, hitting .357 (15-for-42) through 12 games with three homers and 11 RBI.

Hiura went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-2 loss to Minnesota.

The 24-year-old launched his fourth home run of the season off Sergio Romo in the eighth inning. For the second time this season, Hiura has gone deep in back-to-back games, bringing his OPS up to .833 on the year.

Manager Rick Renteria said after Monday's game that the stinging sensation in Abreu's left leg subsided and the White Sox are "hopeful," James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

The team will wait until Tuesday before checking to determine the full extent of the issue, but it's encouraging to hear Abreu was already feeling better immediately following the game. He was lifted in the eighth inning after stepping awkwardly on the first-base bag.

Abreu left Monday's game against the Tigers with right hip soreness. He will be re-evaluated Tuesday.

The 33-year-old appeared to be hobbled after landing awkwardly on first base and was ultimately lifted for a defensive replacement in Zack Collins. Abreu went 1-for-4 prior to exiting. His availability for the rest of the series is up in the air.

Dawel Lugo pinch hit for Cron in the bottom of the fourth inning and shortly thereafter the team announced Cron is undergoing further evaluation for a left knee issue. Jeimer Candelario shifted from third base to first to cover for Cron. It would be a major blow to the Detroit offense if Cron were forced to miss significant time.

Smith is not in the lineup Monday against the Nationals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Smith started against just two of the first eight lefties the Mets have faced this season, so it shouldn't be a surprise to see him on the bench in this one against Patrick Corbin. Brian Dozier will be the designated hitter in his absence.

Olson went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in a win over the Astros on Sunday.

Olson's 418-foot shot to center field in the third inning staked the Athletics to a 4-0 lead. The slugger had entered the game in a brief 1-for-12 slump over the prior three contests, although his one hit during that span had also left the yard. Olson now has four of his five home runs on the season in August, although with only one other hit during the month, his average sits at an unsightly .156 since the calendar flipped.
