Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Stays hot in twin bill

Burleson went 4-for-8 with a home run, a walk, three RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Burleson played a key role in the Cardinals' doubleheader sweep, highlighted by a three-run homer in the third inning of Game 2. The 26-year-old has now hit safely in 14 of 16 June contests, a stretch that includes six extra-base hits, 10 RBI and nine runs scored. On the season, he's slashing .323/.354/.460 with seven home runs, 26 RBI, 23 runs and three steals across 227 plate appearances.

  • Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Homer, three RBI in win

Contreras went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and three RBI in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Contreras opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and later tied the game with a two-run homer in the eighth. The 33-year-old is enjoying a productive June, with nine extra-base hits and 18 RBI over 16 games. For the season, he's slashing .249/.338/.421 with 10 home runs, 48 RBI, 36 runs scored and three steals across 300 plate appearances.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Throws, takes dry swings

Harper (wrist) threw and took some dry swings Thursday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

It's the first time he's done any throwing or hitting since he went on the 10-day injured list with right wrist inflammation more than two weeks ago. The plan is for Harper to throw from a greater distance and possibly hit off a tee Friday, at which point the Phillies expect to have a better idea regarding a timetable for his return.

  • Otto Kemp 3B | PHI

    Phillies' Otto Kemp: Starting Thursday

Kemp (knee) will start at first base and bat sixth against the Marlins on Thursday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Knee problems kept Kemp out of Wednesday's contest, but he seems to be feeling better after a day of rest and will now rejoin the starting nine. Through his first 10 games as a major leaguer, the 25-year-old has gone 10-for-36 (.278) with four RBI and six runs scored.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Cranks two-run shot Wednesday

Steer went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Twins.

Steer walloped his sixth homer of the season and recorded his second game with multiple extra-base hits in 2025. The 27-year-old utility man had a sluggish start to his season while dealing with a shoulder injury, posting a .549 OPS through May 10, but he's settled in at the plate nicely over the past month-plus. Across his last 33 games, Steer is hitting .272 with three homers, seven doubles and 13 RBI.

  • Michael Toglia 1B | COL

    Rockies' Michael Toglia: Homers again

Toglia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Nationals.

Toglia has started three straight games since being recalled by Colorado on Monday and has showcased the power that was missing earlier in the season. He homered in a second consecutive contest Wednesday with a solo blast in the sixth inning and has three total since his promotion. While that production is encouraging, he has struck out once in every contest and has a 38.2 percent overall strikeout rate across 220 plate appearances for the season.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Pushes hitting streak to nine games

Olson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Mets.

Olson blasted his 15th long ball of the season, pushing his hitting streak to nine games and his on-base streak to 25. During this latter period (110 plate appearances), the All-Star first baseman is slashing a healthy .271/.355/.542 with six big flies, eight doubles, 20 RBI and 16 runs scored. Olson has seen a considerable boost in RBI production since Ronald Acuna rejoined the lineup -- the former has collected 17 RBI over his last 23 games after recording just 28 across his first 49 outings without Acuna.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Almost back to throwing

Manager Rob Thomson said Wednesday that Harper (wrist) has improved strength and range of motion, and the first baseman is "getting close" to throwing, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The 32-year-old has been fielding grounders since landing on the injured list June 7 due to wrist inflammation, but he has yet to be cleared to resume throwing or swing a bat. Harper may not require a rehab assignment before rejoining the active roster, but he'll need to get back to full baseball activities before a potential return date comes into focus.

  • Otto Kemp 3B | PHI

Phillies' Otto Kemp: Managing knee issue

Kemp's absence from the lineup Wednesday against the Marlins is due to a knee injury, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The 25-year-old fouled a pitch off his knee during Tuesday's contest, and the subsequent swelling will keep him out of the lineup Wednesday for the first time since being promoted June 7. Kemp has a .278 average (10-for-39) in his first 10 big-league games, though his .306 slugging percentage is significantly less impressive as he has just one extra-base hit (a double). Alec Bohm shifted to first base Wednesday for the Phillies.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

    Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Idle Wednesday

Hoskins is not in the Brewers' starting lineup against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Hoskins has struggled in his last 11 starts, going 3-for-34 (.088) with one home run, two RBI and a 41.0 percent strikeout rate over that span. He'll begin Wednesday's game on the bench while Jake Bauers starts at first base and bats eighth.
