Meneses is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Though he kept his spot on the 26-man active roster when the Nationals brought back Lane Thomas (knee) from the injured list Monday, Meneses appears to be the odd man out of the starting nine in the wake of the outfielder's return. Jesse Winker has served as the Nationals' designated hitter in two of the three games in Atlanta while Joey Gallo has started at first base twice during the series, closing off Meneses' primary avenues to playing time. Meneses should still have a spot in the lineup versus lefties, but the lefty-hitting Winker and Gallo appear poised to start ahead of him against righties.

Alonso was removed from Wednesday's game against the Dodgers after being hit on the right hand by a pitch in the first inning, David Lennon of Newsday reports.

A 93 mile-per-hour four-seamer struck Alonso, and he was lifted for a pinch runner after taking his base. The big first baseman is surely headed for X-rays, with an update on his condition from the Mets likely to come later Wednesday.

Montero went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run in Tuesday's 13-7 loss to the Guardians.

Montero has made three straight starts since Jordan Beck (hand) landed on the injured list, with two of those starts coming against righties. He's been productive in that short span, driving in four and also scoring four runs. Montero will need to continue to hit to maintain playing time, but the absence of Beck creates the possibility of more regular plate appearances.

Freeman went 5-for-8 with a walk, a double, a home run and three RBI across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader sweep of the Mets.

The first baseman reached base three times in each contest, but most of his production came in the matinee, including a two-run shot off Jorge Lopez in the 10th inning. Freeman is heating up again, slashing .333/.381/.590 over the last 10 games with four doubles, two homers, five runs and nine RBI.

Bryant went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 13-7 loss to the Guardians.

Bryant has gone 6-for-28 (.214) over eight games since he returned from a back injury. His homer Tuesday was his first extra-base hit in that span. The 32-year-old is slashing a meager .173/.303/.280 with two homers, nine RBI, four runs scored and two doubles over 21 contests this season. For now, it looks like Bryant and Elehuris Montero will share first base and designated hitter.

Busch went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and two total RBI in Tuesday's 6-3, 10-inning win over the Brewers.

Busch connected for his eighth home run of the season in the third inning, but it was only his second of the month as he's slowed down some after a hot start. Across 23 games in May, the first baseman is batting just .206 after hitting .266 from Opening Day through the end of April. Busch should hold onto a regular role, though the Cubs have some other lineup options if they decide to mix things up.

Wade was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The Giants placed Wade on the injured list earlier Tuesday, but the team expects him to be sidelined for roughly a month now that the severity of his strain has been revealed. In the meantime, Wilmer Flores and Trenton Brooks will likely split time at first base, though neither player is likely to replace Wade's .333/.470/.426 slash line.

Wade (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

The 30-year-old returned to the lineup Monday against the Phillies after he suffered the hamstring injury over the weekend, but he aggravated the issue and will miss at least the next week and a half. Wade has been one of the more surprisingly productive players in MLB through the first two months of the season with a .333/.470/.426 slash line through 52 games.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that Hoskins (hamstring) ran on the field and is progressing in his running program, and it's possible the first baseman returns from the injured list early next week in Philadelphia, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The 31-year-old landed on the shelf May 14 with a strained right hamstring, and he's now ramping up his rehab work after a brief shutdown period. A return for the Phillies series is likely an enticing target for Hoskins, considering he'd spent his entire MLB career in Philadelphia before signing with the Brewers in January.

Gallo is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Atlanta.

Gallo had started 10 straight games since returning from the injured list, but he will begin Tuesday's game on the bench as Atlanta goes with Max Fried as its starting pitcher. Joey Meneses will cover first base.
