With his pair of long balls, Tellez has reached the 20-homer plateau during his rookie season. Diaz (foot) is expected to get at-bats in the instructional league, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz, who has been sidelined since late July with a foot contusion, said he initially dealt with some pain but ultimately felt OK. While this is a step in the right direction for the third baseman, he still isn't expected to return this season unless the Rays make a deep run in the playoffs.

The rookie came through in dramatic fashion, as his 338-foot shot to left with Johnny Davis aboard in the bottom of the 11th erased a 4-3 deficit and won another critical game for the Rays. The round tripper was a rare taste of offensive success for Lowe in September, as he's still hitting just .184 (7-for-38) for the month and has struck out on 17 occasions over 39 plate appearances.
