Yuli Gurriel DH | SD
Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Reaches base four times
Gurriel went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two walks in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to Detroit.
The first baseman continued his phenomenal start to 2021, as he now boasts a .429 average with five RBI, 11 walks and only four strikeouts. Gurriel appears to have returned to form after an underwhelming 2020 campaign, again resembling the player who hit .298 with 31 homers two years ago. The 36-year-old has long gone under the radar as a strong offensive contributor, largely due to sharing a lineup with the likes of Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa, among others, but if the first two weeks are any indication, Gurriel is on his way to a stellar offensive campaign.

Evan White 1B | LAA
Mariners' Evan White: Remains on bench
White will sit for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Orioles.
White was sidelined for three games last week while dealing with a quadriceps issue. He returned to start the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday before sitting for the nightcap. It's likely that he'll return to the lineup for the evening game this time around.

Nate Lowe 1B | CLE
Rangers' Nate Lowe: Snaps out of slump
Lowe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Rays.
Lowe smacked three home runs in his first five games with the Rangers, but he collected just one hit in his next 21 at-bats prior to the Wednesday's game. He snapped that cold spell by crushing a leadoff homer in the second inning for his fourth long ball of the season. Lowe also missed a golden opportunity for more production four frames later by grounding into a double play with the bases loaded and no outs. Through 50 plate appearances this season, Lowe is hitting .239/.300/.522 with four home runs, 15 RBI and six runs scored. However, to maintain that level of production, he'll need to cut back on his 36 percent strikeout rate.

Carlos Santana 1B | ATL
Royals' Carlos Santana: Mashes second homer
Santana went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a pair of walks in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Angels.
Santana's two-run blast in the seventh inning extended the Royals' lead to 5-1. The 35-year-old first baseman is up to two homers, eight RBI and six runs scored through 44 plate appearances in 10 games. He's slashing .171/.318/.371 while regularly hitting third or fourth in the order.

Yandy Diaz DH | TB
Rays' Yandy Diaz: Multi-hit effort in loss
Diaz went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk in a loss to the Rangers on Tuesday.
Diaz owns a stellar .395 on-base percentage thanks in large part to his 15.8 percent walk rate, but he'd otherwise found success at the plate somewhat fleeting prior to Tuesday's production. Diaz has now reached safely in four straight games, but his anemic .323 slugging percentage underscores the fact he only has a pair of doubles in terms of extra-base hits over his first 38 plate appearances.

Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN
Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Starting matinee
Kirilloff is starting the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Kirilloff was called up by the Twins to serve as the 27th man for Wednesday's twin bill, and he'll start in left field and bat sixth in his regular-season debut for Minnesota. Kirilloff appeared in 94 games for Double-A Pensacola in 2019 and slashed .283/.343/.413 with nine home runs and 43 RBI.

Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN
Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Called up as 27th man
Kirilloff was recalled by the Twins to serve as the 27th man in Wednesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Kirilloff was sent to the Twins' alternate training site after he slashed .129/.182/.258 with a home run, one double, three runs and eight strikeouts this spring. Kirilloff made his big-league debut in the postseason last year, but he'll be available to make his regular-season debut Wednesday.

Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW
Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Takes seat for Game 1
Dalbec isn't starting the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against Minnesota, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Dalbec had gone 3-for-7 with three doubles, two RBI and a walk in the past two games, but he'll retreat to the bench for Wednesday's matinee. Marwin Gonzalez will start at first base, batting sixth.
-
Kevin Padlo 1B | LAD
Rays' Kevin Padlo: Sent down to alt site
The Rays optioned Padlo to their alternate training site Wednesday.
Tampa Bay will demote Padlo to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for lefty Josh Fleming, who is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Rangers. During his first cup of coffee in the big leagues, Padlo saw action in three games and went hitless with a pair of walks over eight plate appearances.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Hit streak at five games
Mountcastle went 3-for-6 with two doubles, a steal, an RBI and a run across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mariners.
He collected one two-bagger in each end of the twin bill to extend his hitting streak to five games and his doubles streak to three. Mountcastle is experiencing contact issues at the outset of his first full season in the majors, as he's hitting .227 (10-for-44) with a 2:18 BB:K, but half of his hits have gone for extra bases (four doubles and a homer).
