  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: X-rays negative

Guerrero underwent X-rays on his right foot Wednesday which were negative, but his foot is still sore enough that he won't be in the lineup for Thursday's game against Boston, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Guerrero fouled a ball off his foot Wednesday, and while he remained in the game, he evidently didn't escape entirely without injury. His issue does seem to be a minor one, as he could be available off the bench if he responds well to pregame treatment, but it will be Gosuke Katoh serving as the first baseman for now.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Could return Friday

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said he expects Mountcastle (neck) to return to the lineup Friday against the Red Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

A stiff neck is keeping Mountcastle out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Yankees, but the 25-year-old is reportedly showing improvement after missing Wednesday's 5-2 loss due to the issue. The Orioles will presumably wait and see how Mountcastle is feeling early Friday before determining whether he'll re-enter the lineup for the series opener with Boston.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Not starting Thursday

Guerrero isn't starting Thursday against the Red Sox.

Guerrero fouled a ball off his right foot in Wednesday's loss to the Red Sox but remained in the game. It's not yet clear whether he's dealing with a foot issue Thursday or whether he'll be available off the bench. However, Gosuke Katoh will take over at first base and bat eighth.

  • Evan White 1B | LAA

Mariners' Evan White: Transferred to 60-day IL

White (groin) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

White has been on the injured list since the start of the year after undergoing surgery for a sports hernia in late March, and he'll be ineligible to return until at least early June. According to Divish, the 26-year-old is progressing in his recovery but hasn't been cleared to resume baseball activities.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Remains sidelined

Mountcastle (neck) remains on the bench Thursday against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mountcastle was scratched Wednesday with a stiff neck and will sit for at least one more game. Cedric Mullins will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Trey Mancini starts at first base.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Another hitless effort

Dalbec went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and an RBI in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Blue Jays.

While the Red Sox's bats begin to emerge, Dalbec is notable for a lack of production. The first baseman is batting .161 (10-for-62) with three RBI and is 2-for-20 with runners in scoring position. He and Travis Shaw (0-for-17) make for the league's least-productive first base tandem with a .382 OPS. When rosters are reduced beginning May 1, the Red Sox could make changes. Shaw is likely to be part of the roster reduction, but it will be interesting to see if the organization promotes prospect Triston Casas from Triple-A Worcester.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Homers, drives in four

Vaughn went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBI Wednesday against the Royals.

Vaughn did the majority of his damage on a three-run homer in the seventh inning, his fourth long ball of the season. Four frames earlier he had recorded an RBI double. Vaughn entered the game with at least one hit in three of his last four games, though this was his first multi-knock effort since April 13. Through 52 plate appearances, Vaughn is hitting .298/.365/.617, and he should be locked into near everyday playing time in the absence of Eloy Jimenez (hamstring).

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Dealing with neck stiffness

Mountcastle was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Yankees with neck stiffness but could be available off the bench, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mountcastle was originally penciled in at designated hitter, but the neck issue will prevent him from starting Wednesday. The injury doesn't appear to be a serious concern since he may be available off the bench, so the 24-year-old could be back in the lineup within a day or two.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Not starting Wednesday

Gurriel isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Gurriel hit .333 with three doubles, four runs, three RBI and a stolen base over his last five appearances, and he'll get his first day off since April 10. J.J. Matijevic will make his first career start at first base.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Scratched from lineup

Mountcastle was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees for an undisclosed reason, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

It's not clear whether Mountcastle is dealing with an injury, but he'll be excluded from the lineup after initially being listed as the designated hitter. Anthony Santander will now serve as the DH while Ryan McKenna enters the lineup in right field.
