Robert Suarez SD RP
Padres' Robert Suarez: Locks down 35th save
22m agoSuarez picked up the save Tuesday against the Mariners. He allowed no hits or walks with no strikeouts over a perfect inning.
Suarez gave up some hard contact but retired the side to lock down a Padres win Tuesday. The flamethrowing right-hander has endured shaky moments when his command wavers, yet he's still converted 35 of 40 save chances -- tied for the most saves in the majors with Carlos Estevez.

Colt Keith DET DH
Tigers' Colt Keith: Homers in three-hit effort
31m agoKeith went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Athletics.
Keith's blast tied the game at 5-5 in the fifth inning. He entered the contest in an 0-for-11 slump at the plate. The infielder is up to a .264/.343/.433 slash line, 12 homers, 40 RBI, 58 runs scored and one stolen base through 118 games this season. Keith remains in a strong-side platoon role and has seen the bulk of his playing time come at third base lately.
-
Eugenio Suarez SEA 3B
Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Clubs 41st homer
32m agoSuarez went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Padres.
Suarez sparked Seattle with a go-ahead three-run homer in the fifth inning, but the momentum was short-lived as San Diego answered back in the sixth inning and held on for the win. Since being dealt from Arizona at the trade deadline, the third baseman has struggled to replicate his previous success, slashing .174/.250/.395 with four doubles, five homers and 14 RBI across 24 games in his second career stint in a Mariners uniform.
-
Riley Greene DET LF
Tigers' Riley Greene: Launches grand slam in loss
33m agoGreene went 2-for-5 with a grand slam in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Athletics.
Greene has hit safely in five straight games, with three homers among his seven hits in that span. The outfielder made an early impact in the third inning Tuesday, though the Tigers coughed up the lead in the bottom of the frame. Greene is now at 32 homers, 99 RBI, 72 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .268/.323/.517 slash line through 130 contests on the year.
-
Will Vest DET RP
Tigers' Will Vest: Takes blown save, loss
35m agoVest (6-3) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks over one-third of an inning, taking the loss and a blown save versus the Athletics on Tuesday.
Vest couldn't find the strike zone, throwing just nine of 23 pitches for strikes. It was just the fourth time all year he's walked multiple batters in an appearance. Vest has allowed six runs (five earned) over 11.1 innings in August, converting three of his five save chances. With Kyle Finnegan yet to allow a run since being acquired from the Nationals, Vest can't afford to have too many shaky outings. Vest is 19-for-25 in save chances while adding three holds with a 2.81 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 64:19 K:BB through 57.2 innings this season.
-
Charlie Morton DET SP
Tigers' Charlie Morton: Surrenders five runs
38m agoMorton allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Tuesday.
Morton had trouble early, allowing a three-run home run to Jacob Wilson in the first inning. A pair of wild pitches didn't help Morton's performance, but the Tigers' offense spared him from ending up with a loss. Morton is now at a 5.25 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 137:58 K:BB through 128.2 innings over 28 appearances (22 starts) between Detroit and Baltimore this season. The right-hander's next start is projected to be at home versus the Mets.

Shea Langeliers ATH C
Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Racks up three hits in win
44m agoLangeliers went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Tigers.
Langeliers wasn't able to lift another homer, but he logged his first multi-hit effort since Aug. 15 versus the Angels. The catcher has been sensational this month, batting .306 with 11 home runs and 22 RBI over 22 games in August. That surge has him up to a .266/.311/.547 slash line with 29 homers, 65 RBI, 60 runs scored, 23 doubles and five stolen bases through 101 contests on the year. He is on track for career-best numbers across the board in his third full major-league season.
-
Will Smith LAD C
Dodgers' Will Smith: Goes yard in Tuesday's win
1h agoSmith went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Reds.
Smith's solo shot initiated a four-run rally in the sixth inning that helped the Dodgers secure the game. The catcher has had a rough August, going just 10-for-63 (.159) while adding three extra-base hits, nine RBI and a 12:22 BB:K over 19 games this month. The recent fade has taken a little of the shine off his season-long production, though he's still at a .295/.403/.494 slash line with 16 homers, 59 RBI, 61 runs scored and two stolen bases over 104 contests. Smith isn't in danger of losing the starting role to Dalton Rushing, though Smith has seen fairly standard rest once or twice a week throughout the year.
-
Hunter Goodman COL C
Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Pops 26th homer
1h agoGoodman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's victory over the Astros.
Goodman deposited a Hunter Brown sinker into the Crawford Boxes for a two-run homer in the third inning that padded the Rockies' lead. The catcher's power has been a constant this season, as he's produced an .847 OPS with 23 doubles, four triples, 26 homers and 75 RBI across 116 games. Even with Colorado's season going poorly, the 25-year-old has consistently provided a spark offensively.
-
William Contreras MIL C
Brewers' William Contreras: Stays locked in with two-run homer
3h agoContreras went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-8 win over Arizona.
The homer was Contreras' seventh of the month and his 15th of the year. The catcher's .763 OPS for the year may be slightly disappointing based on his high expectations entering the season, but he's been rolling for the past month or so. Over his last 130 plate appearances, Contreras is slashing .321/.415/.616 with nine long balls, six doubles and 23 RBI.
-
Gabriel Moreno ARI C
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Belts three-run homer Tuesday
3h agoMoreno went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-8 loss to Milwaukee.
Moreno smashed his seventh homer of the year and his first since coming off the injured list due to a fractured finger. The 25-year-old backstop is primed to serve as Arizona's top catcher to finish out the campaign, and he's slashing a respectable .279/.332/.447 with nine doubles, one triple, 27 RBI, 33 runs scored and one stolen base over 205 trips to the plate.
-
Dillon Dingler DET C
Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Getting rest Tuesday
8h agoDingler isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Dingler will get a breather Tuesday after going 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in Monday's series opener. Jake Rogers will bat ninth while catching for right-hander Charlie Morton.
-
Pete Alonso NYM 1B
Mets' Pete Alonso: Plates two in four-hit game
4h agoAlonso went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Phillies.
The four-hit game was Alonso's second of the year, with both such efforts coming in the month of August. Alonso is batting a strong .286 with seven home runs, seven doubles and 24 RBI over his last 98 at-bats as New York's top cleanup hitter. The All-Star slugger also has at least one knock in 16 of his last 23 outings.
-
Willson Contreras STL 1B
Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Appealing six-game ban
8h agoMajor League Baseball handed Contreras a six-game suspension for his actions in Monday's game against the Pirates, but he remains in the lineup for Tuesday's contest since he's appealing the decision, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
The 33-year-old disagreed with some called strikes during the seventh inning Monday, and the situation escalated as he continued to argue after being ejected. It's a hefty ban for Contreras, which is owed mostly to the fact that he threw his bat in the direction of the umpire that instead hit his own coach. The suspension could be reduced by a couple games, and Contreras will be available to play until his appeal his heard and decided upon.
-
Carlos Santana CLE 1B
Guardians' Carlos Santana: Placed on outright waivers
10h agoThe Guardians have placed Santana on outright waivers, Zack Meisel and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic report.
Santana has started just 10 of 21 games since the Guardians called up C.J. Kayfus, and the club might now be ready to completely sever ties with the veteran first baseman. The 39-year-old is slashing just .225/.316/.333 in 2025 and is owed a bit more than $2 million for the remainder of the season, so it seems likely he'll clear waivers. The Guardians could keep Santana if that happens, but it's likelier at this point that they move on.
-
Ryan Mountcastle BAL 1B
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Not in Tuesday's lineup
10h agoMountcastle is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Red Sox.
It's a routine day off for Mountcastle, who had started each of the previous seven contests. The Orioles are going with Coby Mayo at designated hitter and Samuel Basallo at first base Tuesday.
-
Alec Burleson STL 1B
Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Ends four-hit game with walk-off
1d agoBurleson went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional run and a double in Monday's 7-6 win against the Pirates.
Burleson was already having a big game when he came to the plate with the score tied and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. The first baseman then left his final mark on the contest by crushing a 409-foot solo blast to center field to give the Cardinals the victory. This was Burleson's first four-hit performance of the season, and he's been swinging a hot stick of late, slashing .364/.391/.515 with two homers, 10 RBI, eight runs and a stolen base over his past 17 games.
-
Nick Kurtz ATH 1B
Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Homers off bench in win
1d agoKurtz hit a two-run home run in his lone at-bat in Monday's 8-3 win over the Tigers.
Kurtz was on the bench to begin this game against tough southpaw Tarik Skubal. Prior to Monday, Kurtz had gone 0-for-10 with two walks and four strikeouts over three games versus the Mariners. He was able to make an impact when he entered the game as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning, providing the Athletics' last runs of the game. The rookie first baseman is up to 27 long balls, 70 RBI, 66 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .308/398/.640 slash line through 91 contests this season, with his homer Monday being the 100th hit of his big-league career.
-
Nick Gonzales PIT 2B
Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Day off Tuesday
10h agoGonzales is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in St. Louis.
It's a routine day off for Gonzales, who will take a modest nine-game hitting streak to the bench. Liover Peguero is covering second base and batting eighth for the Pirates.
-
Brice Matthews HOU 2B
Astros' Brice Matthews: Optioned to Triple-A
10h agoThe Astros optioned Matthews to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Matthews was recalled last week but did not make an appearance during this most recent stint in the majors. He's clearing out to make room on the active roster for the return of Yordan Alvarez (hand).
-
Edouard Julien MIN 2B
Twins' Edouard Julien: Settling in at first base
12h agoJulien is starting at first base and batting fifth in Tuesday's game versus the Blue Jays.
This marks his third straight start at first base and the fourth time over the last five contests that he's manned the position. Additionally, this is the highest Julien has batted all season. The 26-year-old is slashing just .186/.222/.279 this month, but it appears the Twins might want to give Julien a long look at first base while Kody Clemens settles into a utility role.
-
Kody Clemens MIN 2B
Twins' Kody Clemens: Exiting starting nine
12h agoClemens is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Toronto.
Clemens is slashing only .192/.241/.321 in August and looks to be sliding back into more of a utility role, with Edouard Julien emerging as the primary first baseman against right-handers. The 29-year-old Clemens has been out of the lineup twice over the last five games, and in his three starts over that span he has played three different positions.
-
Jazz Chisholm NYY 2B
Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Continues power surge
15h agoChisholm went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional run and a walk in a 10-5 win against Washington on Monday.
Chisholm hit one of three Yankees homers in the victory, slugging a two-run shot to right field in the fifth inning. The veteran infielder has gone deep three times and driven in six runs over his past two contests. That's a continuation of a recent power (and speed) surge by Chisholm -- over his past 21 games, he's slugged seven homers and stolen eight bags while recording 16 runs and 15 RBI.
-
Jeff McNeil NYM 2B
Mets' Jeff McNeil: Drives in three in rout
16h agoMcNeil went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Monday's win over the Phillies.
Getting the start at second base before sliding out to right field, McNeil tied the game at 3-3 with an RBI single in the fourth inning before driving in a couple more runs late in the contest as the Mets poured on the offense in an eventual 13-3 rout. It's the fourth time in his last six games that McNeil has racked up multiple RBI, and through 21 contests in August he's slashing .300/.352/.487 with six doubles, three homers, 12 runs and 15 RBI.

Matt Chapman SF 3B
Giants' Matt Chapman: Homer, steal in win
2h agoChapman went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.
Chapman has gone 2-for-10 with a pair of extra-base hits and two steals since returning from a bout of hand inflammation. The third baseman hadn't homered since he went yard twice versus the Mets on July 27. Chapman is slashing .228/.339/.428 with 17 homers, 46 RBI, 56 runs scored and nine stolen bases through 99 contests this season.
-
Ryan McMahon NYY 3B
Yankees' Ryan McMahon: Sitting out versus left-hander
11h agoMcMahon is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.
The Yankees have faced very few left-handed pitchers over the last several weeks, but McMahon has now yielded third base to Amed Rosario each of the last two times the club has gone up against a southpaw. The Nationals are sending lefty MacKenzie Gore to the bump Tuesday.

Brock Wilken MIL 3B
Brewers' Brock Wilken: Activated from Double-A IL
14h agoDouble-A Biloxi activated Wilken (knee) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday.
Wilken has been sidelined since late June with a dislocated left kneecap, which he sustained during the celebration of Biloxi's first-half championship. The 23-year-old slugged 18 home runs in 65 games with Biloxi before getting injured, though his production came with a .230 average and 26.1 percent strikeout rate.

Junior Caminero TB 3B
Rays' Junior Caminero: Racking up homers in August
1d agoCaminero went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI, two additional runs scored and one stolen base in Monday's 9-0 win over Cleveland.
Caminero pushed his hitting streak up to five games, and he now has four homers over his past four outings. The four-hit game was Caminero's third of the year, and Monday marked his fourth multi-homer effort of the campaign as well. The slugging third baseman is on a tear in August, batting .301 with 12 round-trippers, two doubles, 23 RBI and two steals over his last 83 at-bats.

Max Muncy LAD 3B
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Set to face live pitching
1d agoMuncy (oblique) is expected to face live pitching Tuesday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Muncy started to take swings off a tee last week, and he will now progress to facing real pitching. The 35-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 15 due to a right oblique strain, so he's eligible to return to action at any point. Manager Dave Roberts said Monday that Muncy could be activated during the team's upcoming road trip, which begins next Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

Jacob Wilson ATH SS
Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Blasts 12th homer
1h agoWilson went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Tigers.
Wilson opened the scoring with his first-inning homer and generated another RBI in the third. He's gone 6-for-20 (.300) with two homers and eight RBI over five games since returning from a forearm fracture. Wilson hasn't needed to shake off the rust, and the shortstop now has a .311/.353/.450 slash line with 12 homers, 53 RBI, 50 runs scored and five stolen bases over 99 contests this season.
-
Corey Seager TEX SS
Rangers' Corey Seager: Pops solo homer in win
3h agoSeager went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Angels.
Seager hit the 20-homer plateau for the season Tuesday, which marks his fourth consecutive year accomplishing this feat. The star shortstop has remained one of fantasy's top four-category producers at shortstop when healthy in 2025. Since the start of July, Seager is slashing .293/.396/.530 with 10 big flies, 13 doubles, 25 RBI and 31 runs scored covering his last 212 plate appearances.

Trey Sweeney DET SS
Tigers' Trey Sweeney: Not in Tuesday's lineup
8h agoSweeney isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Sweeney will grab a seat on the bench after going 1-for-2 with a strikeout in Monday's game. Zach McKinstry will enter the lineup to start at shortstop instead while batting seventh.
-
Chase Meidroth CHW SS
White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Out of Tuesday's lineup
11h agoMeidroth is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.
Meidroth had started the last four and nine of 10 contests after returning from the injured list, but he'll begin Tuesday's festivities on the bench. Lenyn Sosa is covering second base for the White Sox.

Elly De La Cruz CIN SS
Reds' Elly De La Cruz: In midst of offensive lull
11h agoDe La Cruz went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Monday's 7-0 loss to the Dodgers.
De La Cruz has started in all but one of the Reds' 132 games to date, but the rigors of the long season seem to be catching up with the 25-year-old. Though his .799 OPS on the season isn't far behind his 2024 mark of .810, De La Cruz is slashing just .217/.258/.293 with a 29.9 percent strikeout rate in August, and he's offered limited impact in the counting categories this month with zero home runs, two steals, 10 runs and five RBI across 22 contests. According to Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati, De La Cruz has been managing a quadriceps injury, which could explain his relative lack of activity as a baserunner in recent weeks. De La Cruz is expected to keep playing on an everyday basis as the Reds battle for a wild-card spot heading into September, and while he may continue to be selective with his steal attempts, fantasy managers should eventually expect some improvement with his production as a hitter. Even in a down month, De La Cruz is still striking the ball with authority; he's sporting a 41 percent hard-hit rate and has produced 16 batted-ball events exceeding 100 miles per hour thus far in August.
-
Maximo Acosta MIA SS
Marlins' Maximo Acosta: Pops game-winning homer
16h agoAcosta went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's win over Atlanta.
Getting the start at third base and batting ninth, the rookie infielder homered off Pierce Johnson in the eighth inning for what proved to be the game-winning run. Acosta has just three hits in his first 18 big-league at-bats, but all three have left the yard for solo shots. The 22-year-old seems likely to lose his spot on the roster once Connor Norby (wrist) is cleared to come off the IL, although the Marlins could delay that move until Sept. 1 in order to keep Acosta in the majors and take a longer look at him, as the team shifts its focus from a long-shot wild-card bid to 2026.

Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Drives three-run homer in loss
40m agoArozarena went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Padres.
Arozarena made his lone hit count Tuesday, launching a three-run homer off Dylan Cease in the fifth inning to trim the Padres' lead. Batters later, Eugenio Suarez followed with a three-run shot of his own to put the Mariners ahead, though they ultimately gave the lead back. At the plate, Arozarena has been in a bit of a slump, batting .213/.289/.385 over his past 30 games, but he's still managed to produce six home runs during the stretch.

Ramon Laureano SD LF
Padres' Ramon Laureano: Blasts grand slam
1h agoLaureano went 2-for-4 with a double, a grand slam and an additional run scored in Tuesday's win over the Mariners.
Laureano joined "Slam Diego" early Tuesday, blasting a first-inning grand slam off Luis Castillo before even taking the field defensively. Since putting on the brown and gold pinstripes, the outfielder has been outstanding, slashing .330/.379/.625 with a 1.004 OPS, four doubles, two triples, six homers and 20 RBI in 24 games. Despite his torrid run, manager Mike Shildt has stuck with Laureano in the seventh spot of the lineup rather than moving him up.
-
Austin Hays CIN LF
Reds' Austin Hays: Clubs homer in loss
1h agoHays went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers.
Hays' blast in the seventh inning was the last scoring play of the game, as the Reds weren't able to build a comeback effort. The outfielder continues to hit well lately -- he's 16-for-44 (.364) with five extra-base hits and nine RBI over his last 12 games. His homer Tuesday was his first since July 18 versus the Mets, when he went yard twice. Hays is slashing .268/.324/.454 with 11 homers, 53 RBI, 49 runs scored and six stolen bases over 81 contests this season.

Crow-Armstrong logged his first multi-hit effort in seven games, having gone just 2-for-21 across his previous six contests. The outfielder was also able to log a steal for the first time since Aug. 10 versus the Cardinals. He's now at a .256/.295/.510 slash line with 31 steals, 28 home runs, 82 RBI, 80 runs scored, 34 doubles and four triples through 129 games this season.

Moniak delivered at the plate Tuesday, putting the Rockies ahead with an RBI single in the third inning and adding on with a two-run double in the fifth frame. The once highly-touted prospect has put together a respectable season in Colorado, though he's been slumping recently, slashing just .196/.193/.286 across his past 15 games.

-
Luis Castillo SEA SP
Mariners' Luis Castillo: Ambushed early in no-decision
1h agoCastillo did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks over five innings in a 7-6 loss against San Diego. He struck out six.
Castillo ran into immediate trouble Tuesday, surrendering all five of his earned runs in the first inning, punctuated by a Ramon Laureano grand slam. The 32-year-old hurler has hit a rough patch, pitching to a 5.45 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over 36.1 innings in his past seven starts. He's lined up to next take the mound Monday at Tampa Bay.
-
Nick Martinez CIN SP
Reds' Nick Martinez: Takes 10th loss
1h agoMartinez (10-10) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Dodgers.
In what was likely the last chance to maintain a rotation spot, Martinez didn't put forth a good performance in a tough matchup. He faded in the sixth inning and took his first loss since July 8 versus the Marlins. He's had mixed results in August, allowing 14 runs (13 earned) over 23.1 innings across five appearances (four starts). Martinez is at a 4.67 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 108:36 K:BB through 150.1 innings over 29 outings (26 starts) this year. He'll likely cede his spot in the rotation to Nick Lodolo (finger), who is expected to return from the injured list to start Wednesday's series finale in Los Angeles.
-
Dylan Cease SD SP
Padres' Dylan Cease: Fades in no-decision
1h agoCease did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks over 4.1 innings against the Mariners. He struck out five.
The right-hander cruised through four scoreless innings before falling victim to what's become a recurring issue this season -- unraveling when adversity arrives deeper into starts. In the fifth frame, he was tagged for a three-run homer by Randy Arozarena as part of a six-run frame, with four of the runs charged to Cease. The 29-year-old has been one of MLB's most frustrating arms in 2025, flashing elite swing-and-miss stuff with an 11.6 K/9 but struggling with command and home runs, as shown by his 3.87 BB/9 and 1.27 HR/9. Those inconsistencies have left him at 6-11 with a 4.82 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 142 innings in 27 starts.
-
Clayton Kershaw LAD SP
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Strong over five innings in win
1h agoKershaw (9-2) allowed one run on two hits and struck out six without walking a batter over five innings to earn the win Tuesday versus the Reds.
Kershaw threw just 72 pitches (49 strikes), but he was effective despite the lighter workload. He left the game with a 2-1 lead, and the Dodgers rallied to strengthen their advantage in the sixth. The southpaw has won five straight starts, allowing a total of six runs across 28.2 innings in that span. For the season, he's at a 3.06 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 58:21 K:BB through 88.1 innings over 17 starts. Don't expect Kershaw to regularly exceed 90 pitches, but he has done a good job of being efficient this season to put himself in position to collect wins. He's projected to make his next start at Pittsburgh.

Matthew Boyd CHC SP
Cubs' Matthew Boyd: Struggles against Giants
1h agoBoyd (12-7) allowed five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out eight over 5.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Giants.
Boyd's spotty performances continued Tuesday, as he's now given up four or more runs in three of his last six starts. He also allowed multiple home runs in this outing, doing so for the first time since May 17 versus the White Sox. Boyd is now at a 2.82 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 137:36 K:BB through 153.1 innings over 26 starts. The southpaw hasn't had a workload this heavy since 2019, so it's possible he's wearing down a bit late in the campaign. He'll try to get back on track in his next start, which is projected to be in Colorado this weekend.

Osvaldo Bido ATH RP
Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Poor showing as starter Tuesday
1h agoBido allowed four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five over three innings in a no-decision versus the Tigers on Tuesday.
Bido had posted a 3.18 ERA over 17 innings as a reliever since his July 10 call-up from Triple-A Las Vegas. He didn't fare as well as a starter, giving up a grand slam to Riley Greene in the third inning, though the Athletics were able to quickly reclaim the lead in their half of the frame. Bido threw 44 of 66 pitches for strikes in this outing. For the season, he's at a 5.66 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 54:27 K:BB through 68.1 innings over 20 appearances (10 starts). He's projected to make his next start at St. Louis and could stick in the rotation as the Athletics navigate the absences of Jack Perkins (shoulder), Jacob Lopez (elbow) and Luis Severino (oblique).

Tanner Scott LAD RP
Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Reaches 20-save mark
1h agoScott allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Reds.
This was Scott's second appearance since returning from left elbow inflammation that landed him on the injured list in late July. The southpaw has reclaimed his closing role, though Kirby Yates has also recently returned from a back injury and could also mix in for save chances if the Dodgers want to limit Scott's workload. For the season, Scott has collected 20 saves, eight holds and seven blown saves while adding a 3.97 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 50:11 K:BB over 47.2 innings.

Ryan Walker SF RP
Giants' Ryan Walker: Picks up 12th save
2h agoWalker allowed a hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.
Walker has retaken the closer role since Randy Rodriguez (elbow) was injured over the weekend. This was Walker's seventh straight scoreless outing, and he has racked up 10 strikeouts without walking a batter over 7.1 innings in that span. For the season, he's up to 12 saves, eight holds and four blown saves with a 3.57 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 53:14 K:BB through 53 innings. Walker is likely to go unchallenged for closing duties while Rodriguez and Erik Miller (elbow) are both out.

Jhoan Duran PHI RP
Phillies' Jhoan Duran: Saddled with sixth loss
2h agoDuran (6-6) took the loss Tuesday against the Mets, allowing one run on four hits and no walks. He failed to record an out.
The Mets strung together four straight hits to walk it off, though it wasn't a save situation for Duran in a 5-5 game to begin the ninth inning. The hard-throwing right-hander has now permitted a run in two of his past three outings, although he should remain Philadelphia's closer going forward. Duran owns a 2.35 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 9:0 K:BB over his first 7.2 innings with the Phillies.
