The Lions have traditionally taken it easy in the preseason under Dan Campbell, but it sounds like we can expect to see some notable starters take part in this game against Washington, which will rest most of its key starters, including Jayden Daniels. The Bills are also expected to rest starters after they played in last week's preseason opener, while the Browns have a quarterback competition underway that will see Shedeur Sanders start before giving way to Deshaun Watson.
The Vikings and Ravens are both set to sit their starters in this matchup, so all eyes will be on third-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who is set to start for Minnesota. The Falcons and Colts will be following that same pattern, with Cooper Rush expected to be under center for Atlanta while Riley Leonard should play the entire first half for Indianapolis.
The Saints and Rams will also rest most of their key players, but keep a close eye on Ty Simpson for L.A. The surprising first-round pick shined in his NFL debut last week and should play quite a bit on Saturday. Like many teams playing this week, the Giants and Dolphins had joint practices this week, and that often leads to teams resting starters when the game actually happens. It looks like that will be the case for both teams on Saturday.
The Bengals played starters last week, which included a scary sack of Joe Burrow, but despite that, he and other top Bengals players are expected to suit up against the Bears. Chicago kept its starters on the sideline last week and should do the same on Saturday. While an Eagles-Patriots matchup puts a spotlight on A.J. Brown as he's now with New England after years of shining in Philly, neither team is expected to get their top players into this otherwise notable matchup.
The Chiefs have one of the NFL's oldest and most veteran rosters, so don't expect to see anyone of note play much -- if at all -- this week in Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers, on the other hand, are set to play Baker Mayfield and many other top starters for quite a bit in the first half here. As for the Cowboys and Cardinals, Dallas should rest its top players while Arizona will not have rookie quarterback Carson Beck as he's nursing a rib injury that also kept him out of action last week.
