Patriots' Hunter Henry: Among starters rested Thursday
Henry didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants.
After logging six snaps in the Patriots' preseason opener, Henry didn't see action in the team's final two exhibition tilts, with an eye toward keeping him healthy ahead of Week 1. Henry, who is coming off a 2024 regular season in which he recorded a receiving line of 66/674/2 on 97 targets in 16 games, approaches the coming campaign as New England's top pass-catching option in a TE corps that also returns Austin Hooper, who recorded 45 catches on 59 targets while working in tandem with Henry last year.

Patriots' Efton Chism: Misses Thursday's game
Chism (foot/ankle) didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants.
Chism missed practice time this week, but provided his injury issue doesn't linger, the rookie UDFA out of Eastern Washington appears to be in a solid spot in terms of making the Patriots' initial 53-man roster. Added context on that front will arrive no later than next week, when roster cuts/moves occur league-wide.

Patriots' Kyle Williams: Held out of Thursday's game
Williams (undisclosed) didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants.
Williams missed practice time this week due to an undisclosed issue, but he likely wouldn't have played in any case Thursday as the Patriots rested key players with an eye toward giving those competing for depth slotting the bulk of the snaps versus New York. Assuming he resumes practicing in short order, Williams is destined to secure a role in the Patriots offense out of the gate this season, but it may take some time before the 2025 third-rounder sees steady volume in a wideout corps that also includes Stefon Diggs (knee), DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins.

Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Doesn't see preseason action
Diggs (knee) didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants.
Diggs, who continues to bounce back from a torn ACL that he suffered last October, has been a regular practice participant since avoiding the active/PUP list to begin training camp, but the veteran wideout didn't see any action in either of the Patriots' three exhibition contests this month. While the signs continue to point toward Diggs being able to make a mark early on this season, until or unless the team confirms his Week 1 availability, his status will be worth monitoring ahead of New England's Sept. 7 opener against the Raiders.

Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Sits out preseason finale
Stevenson (undisclosed) didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants.
Stevenson, who has been managing an unspecified injury that isn't viewed as significant, sported a non-contact jersey in his return to practice this week, per Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, but there's nothing to suggests that his Week 1 status is in any danger. Added clarity in that regard will arrive no later than the Patriots' first official injury/practice report, but as the coming season approaches Stevenson is set to reprise his key role in a backfield that also includes dynamic 2025 second-rounder TreVeyon Henderson, along with fellow returnee Antonio Gibson. Though Henderson remains the upside play from a fantasy standpoint and figures to cut into Stevenson's volume this season, there should be enough touches, in an offense that could lean toward the run, for both players to carry weekly fantasy lineup utility.

Patriots' Javon Baker: Finishes without a catch
Baker finished without a catch on two targets in Thursday's 42-10 preseason loss to the Giants.
He was quiet during the preseason and didn't seem to make much noise at training camp, which puts Baker on the roster bubble one year after being a fourth-round pick. Injuries to other wide receivers help his case, but even that might not be enough to keep Baker around on the Week 1 roster.

Patriots' Drake Maye: Not suited up Thursday
Maye isn't in uniform in advance of Thursday's preseason game at the Giants, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports.
Maye logged two drives apiece in both of the Patriots' first two exhibitions, completing seven of 12 passes for 58 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions, rushing twice for 16 yards and a TD and losing a fumble. He thus has a number of reps under his belt ahead of his second campaign after throwing for 2,276 yards and a 15:10 TD:INT on 66.6 percent passing and turning 54 carries into 421 yards and two scores in 13 regular-season appearances (12 starts) as a rookie.

Patriots' Ja'Lynn Polk: Reportedly set for shoulder surgery
Polk plans to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.
Polk underwent a shoulder procedure earlier in the offseason as well, but it's unclear if his current issue is setback-related or a new injury. Confirmation from the Patriots has yet to happen, but at this stage it looks like the second-year wideout likely is headed to IR. Prior to Thursday's news, Polk was in contention for a depth role in New England's crowded wideout corps.
