Top Red Wings News

  • Red Wings' John Leonard: Two goals in Griffins' win

Leonard scored twice on seven shots in AHL Grand Rapids' 6-2 win over Rockford on Sunday.

Leonard leads the AHL with nine goals in just seven games, and he's added two assists. The 27-year-old probably can't keep shooting 42.9 percent, but he was at 14.3 percent in a 36-goal, 61-point regular season for AHL Charlotte in the 2024-25 regular season. Leonard's strong play to begin the minor-league campaign gives the Red Wings a quality veteran option for a call-up if they get thinned out by injuries later in the season.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Pots goal in shootout win

Seider scored a goal on four shots, added four PIM, doled out four hits and blocked two shots in Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over the Sharks.

Seider is on a four-game point streak (one goal, three assists). The 24-year-old defenseman started the year quiet on offense, but he's picking up the pace while maintaining his usual elite levels of non-scoring production. Overall, he's at six points, 30 shots on net, 29 hits, 20 blocks, 10 PIM and a plus-2 rating through 13 appearances.

  • Red Wings' Lucas Raymond: Opens scoring Sunday

Raymond scored a goal on four shots and blocked three shots in Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over the Sharks.

Raymond continues to enjoy the road -- he has two goals and four assists during a four-game point streak that coincides with the Red Wings' current trip out west. The 23-year-old winger opened the scoring late in the second period Sunday. He's up to four goals, 12 points, 19 shots on net, six blocked shots and a plus-4 rating through 11 appearances. Raymond's offense should remain fairly steady in a top-six role for a strong offense.

  • Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Claims another shootout win

Talbot stopped 16 of 18 shots in Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over the Sharks.

Talbot won his second shootout in a row. He's allowed five goals on 57 shots over those two games. The 38-year-old has split the crease with John Gibson during this road trip, and it's unclear if head coach Todd McLellan is leaning toward an even division of work or a hot-hand approach at this point. Talbot has done his part with a 5-1-0 record, a 2.76 GAA and an .897 save percentage through seven appearances. The Red Wings have played pretty well on the whole, making both goalies viable options in fantasy formats that value wins above all else. Detroit's road trip concludes with a tough game in Vegas on Tuesday.

  • Red Wings' Eddie Genborg: Two goals in SHL win

Genborg scored twice in Timra IK's 5-0 win over HV71 on Saturday.

Genborg continues to produce at a strong rate for Timra, racking up seven goals and six assists over 18 SHL games this season. The 18-year-old winger should be in contention for a World Junior roster spot next month, but he's showing he can already play alongside men in the SHL. Genborg may need another year or two to develop in Sweden, but it wouldn't be shocking to see him come to North America in the not-too-distant future.

  • Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Starting in San Jose

Talbot will defend the road net against the Sharks on Sunday, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports.

Talbot is coming off a 35-save performance in Thursday's 4-3 shootout win over the Kings. He has a 4-1-0 record through six appearances this season while allowing 16 goals on 157 shots. San Jose is tied with Detroit for 14th in the league with 3.33 goals per game this campaign.

  • Red Wings' Carter Bear: Racks up three points in WHL win

Bear scored a goal on eight shots and added two assists in WHL Everett's 7-2 win over Spokane on Saturday.

After a two-point season debut, Bear went a little quiet until Saturday's breakout performance. He's at four goals and eight points through nine appearances for the Silvertips this year. A first-round pick of the Red Wings (13th overall, 2025), Bear will have a year or two more to develop in the WHL before making the jump to the AHL. So far in 2025-26, he's behind the pace of his 40-goal, 82-point from the 2024-25 regular season.

  • Red Wings' Dominik Shine: Leads Griffins to win

Shine scored twice on five shots and added an assist in AHL Grand Rapids' 4-2 win over Rockford on Saturday.

Shine is up to five goals and three helpers through six contests in the AHL this year. He earned his NHL debut in 2024-25 on the strength of a 14-goal, 46-point effort over 61 regular-season games with the Griffins. The 32-year-old could get a call-up in a pinch, but the Red Wings have trended younger this year, so Shine's strong play so far may simply come as an AHL veteran helping to guide the organization's prospects through the pipeline.

  • Red Wings' Alex DeBrincat: Another two-point effort in loss

DeBrincat scored a power-play goal on seven shots and added an assist in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Ducks.

DeBrincat has scored in four straight games and has four goals and four assists during his five-game point streak. His last three outings have each featured a goal and a helper. The 27-year-old winger is at 14 points (six on the power play), 45 shots on net and a minus-1 rating through 12 appearances. He hasn't had a point-per-game campaign since 2020-21 with the Blackhawks, but the Red Wings are playing at a higher level early in 2025-26, and that may help DeBrincat elevate his individual game as well.

  • Red Wings' Lucas Raymond: One of each in loss

Raymond scored a goal on three shots and added a power-play assist in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Ducks.

Raymond got the Red Wings on the board in the first period and set up an Alex DeBrincat tally in the second. The 23-year-old Raymond has five points over his last three games, and this was his first goal since Oct. 11 versus the Maple Leafs. For the season, the winger is at three goals, eight assists, 15 shots on net and a plus-4 rating over 10 contests. Raymond continues to see time on the top line and first power-play unit.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Loses to former team

Gibson allowed four goals on 31 shots in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Ducks. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.

Gibson has allowed four goals in three of his last four outings, so he's a bit lucky to be 2-2-0 in that span. The 32-year-old wasn't able to fend off his former teammates in his return to Anaheim after the offseason trade that sent him to Detroit. Gibson is 4-3-0 with a 3.32 GAA and an .875 save percentage over seven appearances. The Red Wings visit the Sharks on Sunday, but they haven't announced a starting goalie for that contest at this time.

  • Red Wings' Max Plante: Four more points in win

Plante scored twice on four shots and added two assists in the University of Minnesota-Duluth's 4-3 win over the University of North Dakota on Friday.

Plante can't be stopped -- he is up to nine goals and nine helpers over nine games this season. That puts the sophomore among the top scorers in all of college hockey so far this season. The 19-year-old, a Red Wings prospect, is having a breakout campaign as a sophomore, and it's unclear if he'll need to stick around in the NCAA after this year. It's not like he'll have much left to prove if he can keep up this incredible pace.

... See More ... See Less
  • Red Wings' Alex DeBrincat: Two more points Thursday

DeBrincat scored a power-play goal and added an assist in Thursday's 4-3 shootout win over the Kings.

DeBrincat has three goals and three assists during his four-game point streak, which has included back-to-back multi-point efforts. He got the Red Wings on the board in the second period, answering an Alex Laferriere tally just 43 seconds later. DeBrincat is up to three goals, nine helpers, five power-play points and 38 shots on net through 11 appearances. He's firmly in a top-six role and on the first power-play unit, so he'll be a strong source of offense for a high-flying Red Wings team.

... See More ... See Less
  • Red Wings' Marco Kasper: Tallies twice in shootout win

Kasper scored two goals on three shots and added two hits in Thursday's 4-3 shootout win over the Kings.

Kasper's first goal came on the power play, and he added an even-strength tally to stretch the Red Wings' lead to 3-1 at 14:45 of the third period. The 21-year-old has had a slow start in 2025-26, but he's still in a second-line role and holding onto a power-play role. He's scored three goals, fired 17 shots on net, doled out 31 hits and posted a minus-3 rating through 11 appearances. Kasper isn't a must-have in fantasy, but he'll be worth picking up if Thursday's effort leads to a long stretch of productivity.

  • Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Late lapses in shootout win

Talbot stopped 35 of 38 shots in Thursday's 4-3 shootout win over the Kings.

Talbot squandered a two-goal lead over the final 2:13 of regulation. The Kings also looked to have a goal in overtime, but it was taken off the board for goalie interference, and the Red Wings went on to win in the shootout after Talbot turned aside all three attempts. Overall, it was a much better performance for the 38-year-old after he was torched for seven goals on 30 shots against the Islanders last Thursday. Talbot is now 4-1-0 with a 2.94 GAA and an .897 save percentage over six outings. John Gibson will start in Anaheim on Friday, but it remains to be seen how the goaltending workload will shake out in Detroit, though it appears head coach Todd McLellan has mostly gone with a hot-hand approach.
