Kyle McDonald: Set to become free agent
McDonald is slated to become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday after he didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Stars.
McDonald has played exclusively for AHL Texas over the past three seasons, most recently generating three goals, eight assists and 10 PIM across 29 regular-season appearances during the 2025-26 campaign. He'll attempt to seek out other opportunities during the offseason.

Stars' Kyle McDonald: Scores twice Friday
McDonald scored two goals in AHL Texas' 6-5 overtime win over Henderson on Friday.
McDonald has racked up three goals over the last two games. It looks like he has his timing back after missing more than two months to begin the season while recovering from an ACL surgery. The 23-year-old winger has nine points in 15 AHL games, and he's yet to make his NHL debut despite getting a call-up during the 2024-25 campaign.

Stars' Kyle McDonald: Grabs assist in minor-league contest
McDonald (knee) recorded an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 win over AHL Iowa.
McDonald was sidelined for the start of the season due to his knee problem, but he has been in action for AHL Texas' last three games, picking up a pair of helpers. The 23-year-old winger has yet to make his NHL debut but could be in contention for a call-up before the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Stars' Kyle McDonald: Placed on non-roster IR
McDonald (knee) was placed on non-roster injured reserve Monday.
General manager Jim Nill revealed in September that McDonald would be sidelined until at least November after undergoing ACL surgery, so the 23-year-old's IR designation isn't particularly surprising. Once he's healthy, he'll presumably head back to AHL Texas after making 43 regular-season appearances with the minor-league club last year.

Stars' Kyle McDonald: Sidelined until at least November
General manager Jim Nill said Wednesday that McDonald will be out until at least November after undergoing ACL surgery, Owen Newkirk of DLLS Sports reports.
McDonald hasn't yet appeared in an NHL game, but he recorded six goals, three assists and 29 PIM over 43 regular-season appearances with AHL Texas last year. He'll miss the start of the 2025-26 season following his procedure, and he'll likely head back to the AHL once he's healthy.

Stars' Kyle McDonald: Reassigned to AHL
McDonald was assigned to AHL Texas on Sunday.
Dallas activated Mason Marchment (face) from injured reserve and returned Christian Kyrou to the minors in corresponding moves. McDonald was a healthy scratch in Friday's 5-3 win over Vancouver. He has three goals and two assists in 31 AHL appearances this season.

Stars' Kyle McDonald: Promoted from AHL
McDonald was called up from AHL Texas on Saturday.
McDonald has only three goals and two assists in 31 AHL games with Texas this season. The Stars are down to only 12 healthy forwards, so McDonald is likely to be a healthy scratch Sunday against Columbus, barring an injury up front.
