Avalanche's Domenick Fensore: Inks one-year contract
Fensore signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Avalanche on Wednesday.
Fensore had 10 goals, 35 points and 37 PIM in 60 regular-season appearances with AHL Chicago in 2025-26. The 24-year-old has also logged three career regular-season NHL games, recording no points, two PIM, four hits and six blocked shots. Fensore doesn't appear to have a path to an Opening Night roster spot with the Avalanche, so he'll likely head to the minors after participating in training camp.

Domenick Fensore: Doesn't receive qualifying offer
Fensore didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Hurricanes and will become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Fensore has seen minimal playing time for the Hurricanes across the past two campaigns, making just three regular-season appearances during that time. He spent most of his time with AHL Chicago across that span, and he racked up 10 goals, 25 assists and 37 PIM over 60 regular-season appearances in the minors during the 2025-26 campaign. He'll now attempt to seek out other opportunities during the offseason.

Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Racks up three points
Fensore scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Chicago's 4-2 win over Milwaukee on Saturday.
Fensore has been bouncing between levels this season due to the Hurricanes' numerous injuries on the blue line. Following his most recent NHL stint, he returned to the AHL with three scoreless outings before breaking out of the slump Saturday. He's at four goals, 14 helpers and a plus-7 rating across 20 appearances for the Wolves and will be the next man up whenever there's a concern on Carolina's blue line.

Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Loaned to AHL affiliate
Fensore was reassigned to AHL Chicago on Friday.
Fensore was recalled Thursday and was a healthy scratch against the Maple Leafs, as K'Andre Miller was able to play after recovering from his illness. Fensore was a minus-2 in his lone game in the NHL this season, a 6-3 home loss to Vegas on Oct. 28.

Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Recalled by Carolina
Fensore was recalled from AHL Chicago on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Fensore was sent to the minors in mid-November, but he'll rejoin the Hurricanes ahead of Thursday's game against the Maple Leafs to provide additional depth since K'Andre Miller is considered questionable due to an illness. Fensore has made just three career NHL appearances, logging no points, six blocked shots, four hits, two PIM and a minus-2 rating while averaging 19:10 of ice time.

Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Drops back to AHL
Fensore was reassigned to AHL Chicago on Wednesday.
Fensore was with the big club to provide extra defensive depth and did not play in a game during this NHL stint. His demotion could be a sign that Jalen Chatfield (upper body) will be ready to suit up Friday in Winnipeg.

Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Recalled by Carolina
Fensore was recalled from AHL Chicago on Sunday.
Fensore made his NHL debut last year by making two appearances for the Hurricanes in mid-April, and he'll rejoin the Hurricanes after Charles-Alexis Legault was sent down Sunday. He's gotten off to a hot start in the minors, recording three goals, four assists and a minus-2 rating over four AHL appearances to begin the year.

Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Cruising for Wolves
Fensore scored twice on four shots in AHL Chicago's 4-3 overtime win over Manitoba on Saturday.
Fensore is up to three goals and seven points over four games to begin the year for the Wolves. The 24-year-old defenseman made two NHL appearances in 2024-25. Considering the Hurricanes' precarious injury situation on the blue line, it wouldn't be surprising to see him get a call-up if K'Andre Miller (lower body) misses more time than expected. However, Fensore appears to be behind Charles-Alexis Legault and Joel Nystrom for promotions at this early stage of the campaign, as both of those blueliners are currently helping the NHL team patch holes.

Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Two points in minor-league game
Fensore scored a goal on two shots and added an assist in AHL Chicago's 4-1 win over Iowa on Saturday.
Fensore had 32 points over 67 regular-season games a year ago, and he earned his first two NHL appearances at the tail end of 2024-25. He'll likely need to a show a little more on offense to be a realistic call-up candidate for the Hurricanes this year, though that opportunity won't surface if Carolina's defense corps stays healthy.

Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Secures two-way deal
Fensore signed a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina on Wednesday.
Fensore appeared in just two NHL games last year in which he generated five shots, three hits and two PIM while being held off the scoresheet. The Boston University product was significantly more productive in the minors with nine goals and 23 helpers in 67 regular-season tilts with AHL Chicago. While the 2019 third-round pick could see a little more action with the Canes this year, he figures once again to spend the bulk of his minutes in the minors.
