Mammoth's Jack McBain: Set to play Thursday
McBain (upper body) is available for Thursday's game against St. Louis, Brogan Houston of Deseret News Sports reports.
McBain suffered an upper-body injury during Tuesday's game against Colorado, but the issue won't prevent him from suiting up two days later. Over his first seven appearances of the season, he's recorded a goal, 15 hits, seven blocked shots and 13 PIM while averaging 13:42 of ice time.

Mammoth's Jack McBain: Questionable to finish game
McBain (upper body) is being evaluated after leaving Tuesday's game versus the Avalanche and is questionable to return.
McBain appeared to hit his head against the boards prior to his exit. The Mammoth did not reveal in their in-game announcement if he is being checked for a concussion, but it's certainly a possibility. His status for the Mammoth's upcoming road trip, which begins Thursday in St. Louis, will likely be decided in the coming days.

Through two contests, the first-line center has one point, seven shots, four hits and three blocked shots. He's coming off a 2024-25 season in which he racked up a career-high 27 points while appearing in each of Utah's 82 regular-season contests.

Mammoth's Jack McBain: Still out against Kings
McBain (undisclosed) won't be ready to face Los Angeles on Tuesday, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports.
While McBain's injury is not expected to be a long-term issue, he could also miss out on Thursday's game versus the Kings as he works his way back to full fitness. The 25-year-old center has reached the 25-point threshold in each of his three full NHL campaigns, so fantasy managers should be fairly safe in assuming he'll hit that mark again in 2025-26.

Mammoth's Jack McBain: Considered day-to-day
Head coach Andre Tourigny said Monday that McBain is considered day-to-day due to an undisclosed injury, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports.
McBain apparently sustained his injury during Sunday's preseason matchup versus the Avalanche. While he won't suit up during Monday's exhibition game against the Ducks, it doesn't appear as though he's dealing with a long-term injury. His next chance to suit up in the preseason will be Thursday against the Golden Knights.

Mammoth's Jack McBain: In the fold long term
McBain signed a five-year, $21.25 million contract with the Mammoth on Monday.
McBain is locked in with the Mammoth on a long-term, five-year deal to avoid arbitration. The 25-year-old had 13 goals and 14 assists in 82 games last season, but offense isn't where he delivers the most value. He's a physical presence in a middle-six role, delivering 291 hits last year, and he will look to continue that moving forward from a similar spot in the lineup.

Hockey Club's Jack McBain: Contributes two power-play assists
McBain logged two power-play assists, two shots on goal and four hits in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Stars.
McBain helped out on goals by Sean Durzi and Josh Doan in the second period. With five points over his last five games, McBain has found some success on offense late in the season. His effort Saturday earned him a career year with 27 points (13 goals, 14 helpers), including three on the power play. He's added 89 shots on net, 287 hits, 50 blocked shots, 78 PIM and a plus-8 rating over 80 appearances in a middle-six role.

Hockey Club's Jack McBain: Pockets helper Thursday
McBain notched an assist, four shots on goal and four hits in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Predators.
McBain has earned three points over five outings in April. The 25-year-old remains in a third-line role, and his offense has often been limited to depth contributions in 2024-25. He's at 13 goals, 12 assists, 87 shots, 283 hits, 49 blocked shots, 78 PIM and a plus-8 rating over 79 appearances. He has up to three more games to match his point total from each of the last two seasons (26).

Hockey Club's Jack McBain: One of each in loss
McBain scored a power-play goal, dished an assist and added four hits in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Kings.
McBain had gone 10 games without a goal and also ended a five-game stretch without a point. That's life on the third line for the 25-year-old, who has done fine as a depth scorer but hasn't posted a point streak of more than three contests all season. He's at 13 goals, 24 points, 80 shots on net, 271 hits, 78 PIM and a plus-6 rating over 76 appearances. His goal was the first power-play point of his career.

McBain scored a goal, added five hits and blocked two shots in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Ducks.
McBain snapped an eight-game goal drought with the opening tally at 11:03 of the first period. The 25-year-old forward has served on a checking line with Lawson Crouse and Josh Doan recently, but all three players can chip in a bit of offense as well. McBain has three points over his last four outings and a total of 20 points, 69 shots on net, 226 hits, 41 blocked shots, 61 PIM and a plus-3 rating over 65 appearances this season.

Hockey Club's Jack McBain: Notches assist in win
McBain provided an assist, two shots on goal and five hits in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Red Wings.
McBain had gone five games without a point, and he's gotten on the scoresheet in just two of 25 contests since the start of January (three points). Despite the downturn in offense, he hasn't been scratched, and he's even worked his way back onto the second power-play unit. The 25-year-old has a modest 18 points and 66 shots on net through 62 outings, but he is a physical force with 214 hits and 61 PIM to his name this season.

Hockey Club's Jack McBain: Ends drought with two-point game
McBain scored a goal on two shots, added an assist, logged two hits and went plus-2 in Sunday's 5-4 shootout win over the Capitals.
McBain entered Sunday on an 18-game point drought. The 25-year-old snapped it with a helper on Josh Doan's opening goal 1:10 into the game and then added a tally of his own later in the first period. The lack of offense has left McBain stuck in a bottom-six role most of the time, and he's been back at his natural center position recently to help cover for the absence of Logan Cooley (lower body). McBain is at 11 goals, 17 points, 59 shots on net, 192 hits, 56 PIM and a plus-1 rating through 56 appearances. He's on pace to finish right around the 26 points he recorded in each of the previous two seasons.

Hockey Club's Jack McBain: Held off scoresheet in January
McBain failed to record a point over 14 games in January, adding a minus-7 rating, 16 shots on net and 60 hits.
McBain has largely played as a winger this season, but he's been at center more often than not over the last two weeks. The 25-year-old's month-long slump has him stuck at 15 points through 51 appearances, but his spot in the lineup should be safe while Utah is missing Logan Cooley (lower body) and Dylan Guenther (lower body). McBain has added 54 shots on net, 49 PIM, 179 hits and 35 blocked shots this season -- he's a decent source of physicality for fantasy managers in deep formats who don't need to prioritize offense.
