A failed clearance by the Oilers opened the door for Peterka to score. He is on a four-game point streak (two goals, four assists) while working on the second line. The 23-year-old winger is up to four goals, 10 points, 19 shots on net and a plus-8 rating through 11 outings this season. Peterka hasn't logged a power-play point yet after picking up 18 of his 68 points with the man advantage last year, so he could still unlock a little more offense.

Peterka saw just 13:31 of ice time in this contest, as the Mammoth were able to spread around the minutes in a blowout win. The 23-year-old still got on the scoresheet with a third-period tally to answer Marcus Johansson's two goals. Peterka hadn't scored in the previous four games, but he had four assists in that span. His first year in Utah is off to a fantastic start with three goals and five assists over nine outings, and he's added 16 shots on net and a plus-9 rating in a top-six role.

Mammoth's JJ Peterka: Trio of helpers Thursday
Peterka dished out three assists and fired two shots on target in Thursday's 7-4 win over St. Louis.
Peterka shared the puck extremely well Thursday with helpers on goals scored by Ian Cole, Logan Cooley and Clayton Keller. The 23-year-old Peterka is up to five assists, seven points and 14 shots on net through eight appearances this season. The rising star's first season with the Mammoth is going swimmingly, as he has solidified himself a spot on the second line alongside Cooley and Dylan Guenther. With 68 points a season ago, Peterka could easily hit that number or more while playing top-six minutes on one of the league's best offenses to open the campaign.

Peterka scored the equalizer for the Mammoth at the 1:02 mark of the third period with a wrister from the left circle that went past Spencer Knight. This was Peterka's second straight game cracking the scoresheet, as he had delivered an assist in the 3-2 win over Nashville on Saturday. Peterka should continue to find opportunities to produce as long as he remains a regular both as a top-six forward and as a power-play member.

Mammoth's JJ Peterka: Moves past injury
Peterka (undisclosed) was a full participant in Monday's practice, Brogan Houston of Deseret News Sports reports.
Peterka won't play in Tuesday's preseason matchup against the Kings, but he will be an option for the final two games of Utah's exhibition schedule. The Mammoth host the Kings on Thursday before the Sharks visit Saturday. Peterka will occupy a top-six role and should see plenty of time on the power play this campaign.

Peterka was traded to the Mammoth from the Sabres on Wednesday in exchange for Josh Doan and Michael Kesselring, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Per Cole Bagley of KSL Sports, Peterka will also sign a five-year, $38.5 million contract with the Mammoth.
Peterka is the best player in the deal right now, and he brings an instant boost to the Mammoth's top six and power play. The winger broke out with 68 points in 77 games last season in his third full NHL campaign with the Sabres. Peterka can play on either wing, but it's unclear if he'll slot onto the first line or the second line to begin his time with the Mammoth. In terms of production, this should be a roughly lateral move for the 23-year-old. The extension comes in at a $7.7 million cap hit, which cements Peterka's status as a core forward for Utah for the remainder of the decade.
