Kuzmin will become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday after he didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Blackhawks, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.
Kuzmin played exclusively for AHL Rockford in the 2025-26 season and recorded six goals, nine assists and 11 PIM across 46 regular-season appearances. He hasn't yet appeared in an NHL game, and he'll seek out other opportunities during the offseason.

Kuzmin scored a goal and added an assist in AHL Rockford's 8-4 win over Texas on Saturday.
Kuzmin doubled his point total for the year with this effort. He had nine points in 51 regular-season outings between Rockford and Manitoba last year, so the lack of offense is not a surprise. Given that lackluster production, Kuzmin would likely max out as a third-pairing defenseman if he were to get a call-up to the Blackhawks.

Kuzmin was traded to Chicago from Winnipeg in exchange for Isaak Phillips on Wednesday, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.
Kuzmin hasn't yet made his NHL debut, but he'll be on the move and will attempt to develop with AHL Rockford moving forward. Over 21 appearances with AHL Manitoba to begin the season, Kuzmin has tallied a goal, three assists, 16 PIM and a minus-9 rating.
