Mammoth's Nate Schmidt: Secures three-year contract
Schmidt signed a three-year, $10.5 million deal with Utah on Tuesday.
Schmidt will bring championship pedigree to Utah, having won the Stanley Cup with the Panthers this past season. During the regular season, the 33-year-old blueliner notched 19 points in 80 games, including four power-play points. While Schmidt has reached the 30-point threshold multiple times in his career, he hasn't even managed 20 in each of his last three seasons, so fantasy players probably shouldn't be expecting an offensive explosion with the Mammoth.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Two more assists in win
Schmidt logged two assists and two hits in Friday's 5-4 double-overtime win over the Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Schmidt helped out on first-period tallies by Sam Bennett (on the power play) and Seth Jones. This was Schmidt's second two-assist game in a row and his third this postseason. The defenseman is up to three goals, eight helpers, 20 shots on net, 30 hits, 16 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating over 19 appearances. He continues to make a positive impact from his third-pairing role.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Dishes pair of helpers
Schmidt logged two assists, including one on the power play, and two shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Schmidt snapped a seven-game point drought with this performance, which was his first contribution on offense since a two-assist effort in Game 5 of the second round versus Toronto. The defenseman has maintained a spot on the Panthers' third pairing throughout the postseason. He's up to three goals, six helpers, 19 shots on net, 28 hits, 15 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating over 18 appearances.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Third goal in two playoff games
Schmidt scored the game-winning goal Thursday in a 2-0 win over the Lightning in Game 2.
Schmidt fired a one-timer from above the right circle that beat Andrei Vasilevskiy to the far post. He has been a surprise so far this postseason. After putting up five goals during the regular season, Schmidt has wired three in two playoff games.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Tallies twice in Game 1 win
Schmidt scored two goals on three shots and added two hits in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Lightning in Game 1.
Schmidt's first tally, at 4:41 of the second period, was the game-winner. He added a power-play goal in the third to provide more insurance for the Panthers. The 33-year-old blueliner had all of five goals and 19 points over 80 regular-season outings while mainly playing in a bottom-four role. Aaron Ekblad (suspension) has one game left before he can return, at which point Schmidt or Uvis Balinskis is likely to exit the lineup, though Schmidt certainly helped his own cause with this two-goal effort.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Adds power-play helper
Schmidt logged a power-play assist in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Red Wings.
Schmidt snapped a seven-game slump with the helper on Evan Rodrigues' second-period tally. The 33-year-old Schmidt is getting time on the second power-play unit in the absence of Aaron Ekblad (suspension). For the season, Schmidt has 19 points (four on the power play), 66 shots on net, 78 hits, 62 blocked shots, 30 PIM and a plus-6 rating over 77 appearances. He spent a large part of the campaign in a third-pairing role but has been in the top four lately while the Panthers deal with some absences.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Picks up assist Sunday
Schmidt recorded an assist in Sunday's 4-3 shootout win over the Penguins.
Schmidt ended a six-game point drought with his helper on Anton Lundell's game-tying goal in the third period. The 33-year-old Schmidt has seen steady playing time lately, drawing over 18 minutes of ice time in four straight contests. He's helping to fill the void in the absences of Aaron Ekblad (suspension) and Dmitry Kulikov (upper body), so Schmidt should continue to see a little more usage for most of the rest of the regular season. He's at 18 points, 57 shots on net, 67 hits, 50 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating over 69 appearances.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Two helpers in Saturday's win
Schmidt picked up two assists in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Sabres.
It's the first multi-point performance of the season for the 33-year-old blueliner. Schmidt is no longer even the modest offensive threat he was during his Vegas days, and through 62 appearances this season for Florida, he's managed to produce five goals and 17 points.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Finds twine in Thursday's win
Schmidt scored a goal and went plus-2 in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Oilers.
Schmidt scored for the first time since Jan. 25 versus the Sharks. The defenseman chips in a little offense in a third-pairing role, picking up four points over his last 11 contests. For the season, the 33-year-old has 14 points, 47 shots on net, 58 hits, 42 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating across 58 appearances. Fantasy managers could do worse for streaming options on nights with light schedules, but Schmidt doesn't produce enough in any one area to justify being a long-term addition to most rosters.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Sends assist in loss
Schmidt registered an assist and three hits in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Capitals.
Schmidt had just two points over his last 10 games since he had back-to-back contests with a helper Jan. 13 and 14. The 33-year-old defenseman is facing less of a threat for playing time since Adam Boqvist was waived and claimed by the Islanders. Schmidt is comfortably on the third pairing, and he's earned 12 points (three on the power play), 44 shots on net, 57 hits, 39 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating through 53 outings this season.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Tallies in Saturday's win
Schmidt scored a goal on three shots and went plus-3 in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Sharks.
He opened the scoring at 5:47 of the first period. Schmidt was held off the scoresheet in December, but he's logged three points and a plus-6 rating over 12 contests in January to help him maintain a spot in the lineup. He's up to four goals, seven assists, 38 shots on net, 51 hits, 34 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 48 appearances. Adam Boqvist and Tobias Bjornfot were healthy scratches Saturday, but it doesn't look like either will challenge Schmidt's third-pairing role.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Ends slump with assist
Schmidt logged an assist in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Flyers.
Schmidt didn't get on the scoresheet in December and also struggled early in January. His helper Monday ended an 18-game slump, during which he produced 13 shots on net, 14 hits, nine blocked shots, four PIM and a minus-2 rating. The 33-year-old has seen an uptick in ice time to compensate for the absence of Aaron Ekblad (undisclosed). Schmidt has nine points, 28 shots on net, 44 hits, 27 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating through 42 appearances this season, and his fantasy intrigue is highest when he's involved on the power play.

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Quiet in December
Schmidt has not recorded a point over 11 games in December.
Schmidt has averaged 15:54 of ice time per game this month, raising his season average to 15:12. He's also still a part of the second power-play unit, but it hasn't helped his offense. The 33-year-old defenseman has eight points, 22 shots on net, 39 hits, 20 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 34 appearances. Barring an uptick in scoring, Schmidt is not a particularly strong fantasy option.
